    • A pole-unit of a gas-blast electrical circuit breaker comprises a tranverse partition made of injected insulating plastic material which at the same time performs guiding of the movable contact which passes through it. The injected material part bears an O-ring ensuring tightness with the casing and a one-way check valve of gas flow orifices arranged in the transverse partition. The gas-blast piston securedly united to the movable contact is also made of injected material and it comprises housing and clipping means of the puffer nozzle securedly fixed to the piston. A scraper seal in the form of a split segment is housed in a circumferential groove arranged in the injected part of the piston. The electrical connection between the movable contact rod and a flexible current supply insert is achieved by a braided strip extending in the form of a half-loop in a transverse plane to the pole-unit.

    • An internal combustion electrical circuit breaker comprising at least one: (a) insulating cylinder; (b) pair of electrical conductors penetrating the cylinder approximately perpendicular to its longitudinal axis at a distance from both cylinder's plane sides; (c) conducting hollow piston contacting the conductors and an insulating pipe at its open portion, which pipe extends within that axis and penetrates the cylinder's first plane side; (d) arcing chamber extending from that plane side to the conductors; (e) pair of arcing blades within the arcing chamber at a distance from the conductors, piston and pipe; (f) valves within the pipe and first plane side, communicating with the arcing chamber and hollow piston; (g) combustion chamber extending from the piston's closed portion to the cylinder's second plane side; and (h) ignition, gas injection and valve means within the plane side and communicating with the combustion chamber.When igniting a fuel-oxygen mixture within the combustion chamber, the piston is propelled into the arcing chamber and onto the pipe therein, while the gases within hollow piston and arcing chamber blow across the sparks developing between conductors, piston and arcing blades. This circuit breaker is re-set by injecting compressed gas through the pipe, thereby forcing the piston into the combustion chamber and back onto the conductors, while expelling combustion products and injecting a combustible gas mixture, preferably a stoichiometric (1:2) oxygen/hydrogen mixture into that chamber, which is lined with a material suppressing heat damage and catalytic recombination of the gas mixture therein.

    • A disconnect switch is disclosed having a puffer interrupter electrically connected with and operated by a knife switch or fused disconnect switch. A puffer interrupter includes a divided pressure chamber having at least one exterior wall which is flexible and responsive to the pressure therein. A fixed tubular electrical contact is carried by a fixed interior wall within the puffer interrupter housing so as to establish flow communication through the fixed interior wall. A floating electrical contact is carried by the flexible wall and is adapted to engage and disengage from the fixed electrical contact in response to movement of the flexible wall. A snap spring biases the floating contact away from the fixed contact during arc interruption. The knife switch carries a camming member which electrically connects the knife switch to the floating contact and which overcomes the snap spring in such a manner that the knife switch is electrically disconnected from the load before the puffer interrupter is discharged and is electrically connected to the load after the puffer interrupter is closed. Several embodiments of the abutting ends of the fixed and floating contacts and pressure chamber walls are illustrated.

The half-period high-voltage switch according to the invention is used appropriately in switching systems where the half-period high-voltage switch is connected in series with at least one power circuit-breaker. The advantage is to be seen especially in the use of the high-voltage switch in switching systems where it permits a limited short-circuit cut-out capacity.

    • A puffer type circuit breaker is provided with a pump means consisting of a piston and a cylinder for producing a blast of arc-extinguishing gas. The movable arcing contact of the circuit breaker and the cylinder are connected to an operating device via a rod axially displaceable through an opening in the piston. In the piston there is arranged a check valve, which upon closing of the breaker opens for subsequent filling of the pump chamber with arc-extinguishing gas. The check valve comprises a guiding sleeve of a ductile material (e.g. polyetrafluoro ethylene), which sealingly surrounds the rod and is fixed with a certain axial mobility in the opening in the piston arranged for the rod. The sleeve controls (or is fixedly connected to) the movable valve means of the check valve and, in addition, serves as a seal and a bearing between the rod and the piston.
