    • The invention relates to a single-pole switching unit having a housing comprising a moving contact bridge and a pair of fixed contacts cooperating with said moving contact bridge and respectively connected to a current intake conductor, two electric arc cutoff chambers respectively opening onto an open volume of the moving contact bridge, each cutoff chamber being connected to at least one exhaust channel (42). The exhaust channel (42) comprises a rotating gate (48) designed to be rotated around an axis substantially perpendicular to the exhaust channel (42) by the passage of switching gases. The rotating gate (48) comprises an edge (54) positioned across from an inner wall (56) of the exhaust channel, in the first obstruction position. The arrangement of the rotating gate (48) and the inner wall (56) is such that the distance between said edge (54) and said inner wall (56) remains constant and equal to said first distance up to a first threshold value of the angle of rotation of the rotating gate (48), then increases linearly up to a second rotation angle threshold value corresponding to complete opening of the discharge channel. The invention also relates to a switching unit comprising at least one single-pole switching unit.

    • To provide a high-voltage switch which can switch off in a very short time, namely in a half-period, rapid severing of the isolating screws (36) is utilized, and the high-voltage switch is designed so that the switch-off and switch-on device contains at least one isolating screw (36) by means of which a prestressed rod (28) connected to the movable contact of the high-voltage switch can be released. The half-period high-voltage switch according to the invention is used appropriately in switching systems where the half-period high-voltage switch is connected in series with at least one power circuit-breaker. The advantage is to be seen especially in the use of the high-voltage switch in switching systems where it permits a limited short-circuit cut-out capacity.

    • A high-voltage circuit-interrupter has a contact arrangement operating in compressed gas contained in a sealed vessel. The contact arrangement comprises a pair of spaced aligned tubular fixed contacts respectively connected to the terminals of the interrupter, and a pair of separable rooting electrodes mounted within the tubular fixed contacts and electrically connected respectively to them. A tubular bridging contact sleeve is slidably mounted on the tubular bridging contacts and is movable between a closed position bridging the spaced ends of the tubular contacts and an open position withdrawn from one of them to open a gap therebetween. The circuit-interrupter operating mechanism is arranged, for opening the interrupter, to withdraw the bridging contact sleeve from one of the fixed contacts and to initiate a gas blast through the gap so opened into the interiors of the fixed contacts and simultaneously or subsequently to withdraw one of the rooting electrodes from the other, so that the arc drawn between the bridging contact sleeve and one tubular fixed contact is transferred to the separated rooting electrodes and is then extinguished.
