Various configurations for these antennas are possible, including the use of a balanced dipole as the main antenna element and a split diversity antenna for the diversity antenna element. The diversity antenna provides high isolation between the antenna elements and isolation from interfering self-noise generated by the host device.

For one embodiment of the invention, an extension portion, having a heat sink implemented thereon, is provided for a PC card. For one embodiment of the invention, heat producing components of the PC card are identified and a thermally conductive path is provided from the components to the extension portion of the PC card.

In one embodiment, the system includes a SIM card, a handset device, a digital processing device, and a wireless modem. A handset device coupled, in one embodiment, is a cellular phone and is coupled to the SIM card. The handset device further includes short-range wireless circuitry that is capable of providing short range wireless communication with other short-range wireless devices. In one embodiment, the digital processing device is capable of obtaining the SIM data from the SIM card via a PAN, and then uses received SIM data to access the wireless communications network.

摘要： A switching circuit operative to switch between a first and second power source to an output is disclosed. The circuit comprises a MOSFET switch electrically connected to the first and second power sources and operative to provide power from either one of the power sources to the output. The circuit includes a RC network electrically connected to a gate of the MOSFET switch. The RC network is operative to delay switching between the first and second power sources such that the second power source has the opportunity to fully ramp-up in order to provide continuous power to the output. Accordingly, the second power source can fully provide power to the output when the power is switched from the first power source to the second power source.

The architecture comprises configuring the remote computer system with a Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) stack. Similarly, an Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) service module and a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server are configured on the remote computer system. The PPP stack provides dial-up networking capabilities, while the DHCP server and the ARP service module provide “always connected” type network (i.e., LAN) messaging functionality. The PPP stack, the ARP service module, and the DHCP server are configured as a driver that is installed on the remote computer system. As such, the driver will enable a connection over the “connection establishment” type network that will appear to be an “always connected” type connection to the remote computer system.

The user selects a system with the mobile terminal in order to place a call with the wireless network. Next, a call is originated with the mobile terminal to the wireless network. A traffic channel is assigned for the call originated with the mobile terminal. The call is routed to a web server of the wireless network that collects user information from the mobile terminal. Finally, the web server will initiate the mobile data programming session with the mobile terminal such that the user does not need outside assistance from a customer service representative to initiate the call.
