    • A telecommunications system for communicating internet packet data in accordance with a first internet protocol (IPV6) via a packet radio network operable in accordance a second internet protocol (IPV4). The system comprises a user equipment operable to request a bearer for communicating internet protocol data according to the second internet protocol (IPV4) to and from a gateway support node of the packet radio network. The gateway support node is operable to establish a tunnelling protocol bearer for communicating the internet packet data to and from the user equipment across the packet radio network. The user equipment is operable in combination with the gateway support node to form an address which is compatible with the first internet protocol (IPv6). The address includes an interface identifier having a tunnel endpoint identifier of the tunnelling protocol bearer which ends at the gateway support node of the packet radio network. The internet packet data is communicated to and from a correspondent node via the gateway support node and the established bearer using internet protocol address which is compatible with the first internet protocol (Ipv6). Systems according to the present invention are arranged to generate an address, which is compatible with a first internet protocol which can be used to communicate internet packet data via a packet radio network which has been arranged to support internet packets data according to a second internet protocol. The first internet protocol may be the IPv6 and the second internet protocol may be IPv4.

    • A shared network interface controller (NIC) interfaces a plurality of operating system domains as part of the load-store architecture of the operating system domains. A bus interface couples the NIC to a load-store domain bus (such as PCI-Express), using header information to associate data on the bus with an originating operating system domain. Transmit/receive logic connects the NIC to the network. Association logic allows the NIC to designate, and later lookup which destination MAC address (on the Ethernet side) is associated with which operating system domain. Descriptor register files and Control Status Registers (CSR's) specific to an operating system domain are duplicated and made available for each domain. Several direct memory access (DMA) engines are provided to improve throughput. Packet replication logic, filters (perfect and hash) and VLAN tables are used for looping back packets originating from one operating system domain to another and other operations.

    • A method of establishing communication between a first and second user over a communications network, the second user being associated with contact information for at least one destination node. The method comprises allocating the contact information for the at least one destination node an identity from a set of available identities and displaying a hyperlink containing the identity on a display, wherein the hyperlink does not contain the contact information of the second user. The method also comprises the first user viewing the display using a terminal connected to the communications network and activating the hyperlink, and responsive to activating the hyperlink, transmitting from a client executed on the terminal a message to initiate communication, the message comprising the identity. The method further comprises, responsive to receiving the message at a network node, the network node translating the identity to the contact information for the at least one destination node, and the network node selecting one or more destination nodes from the at least one destination node and establishing a connection over the communications network between the client and the selected one or more destination nodes using the contact information.
