    • A fuel injection device is provided which can inject fuel by very high injection pressure and can realize favorable combustion and exhaust characteristics, and moreover, enables performance of fuel injection with arbitrary fuel injection patterns. In the fuel injection device 30, the protrusion 61 is provided at a distal end portion of the piston control valve 60 which is provided at the pressure intensifier 54, can change a practical opening area of the fuel flow path 57 to the cylinder 56 in accordance with movement of the piston control valve 60, and can control inflow amounts of liquid fuel that is flowed into the cylinder 56 by the piston control valve 60 (does orifice control). Thus, control of injection rates and injection pressures of fuel that is injected from the fuel injection nozzle 34 is enabled, and fuel injection patterns can be realized with an extremely high degree of freedom.

    • An electromagnetic valve can be reduced in size, and improved in the machinability and workability of a body thereof. A plunger (40) is arranged on an axis of a solenoid (47) for axial movement, and a body (41) with the plunger (40) slidably received therein is fixedly arranged in a housing (44). A valve seat (42) is arranged in opposition to one end of the plunger (40) in such a manner that the one end of the plunger (40) is moved to contact with and separate from the valve seat (42). The plunger (40) is urged toward the valve seat (42) by means of a spring (48). The body (41) is formed with an engagement groove (50), into which a caulking portion (51), which is formed by bending or flexing the one end of the housing (44), is engaged to integrally couple the body (41) and the housing (44) with each other.

    • A high-pressure fuel supply system can reduce collision sounds generated when a plunger collides with a stopper. An electromagnetic valve includes a plunger, a valve seat with which the plunger is moved into and out of contact so that the valve seat is placed into communication with a pressurization chamber when the plunger is moved apart from the valve seat, a stopper for limiting the separation of the plunger from the valve seat, an armature made of a magnetic material and fixedly secured to the plunger, a core arranged in opposition to the armature, a solenoid wound around the core for attracting the armature toward the core through an electromagnetic force when energized, and a spring for urging the plunger toward the valve seat. A groove is formed near opposed surfaces of the armature and core for magnetically saturating a portion of a magnetic circuit generated by energizing the solenoid.

    • An oil activated fuel injector control valve which reduces bouncing of the spool and an impact of the spool on an open coil. This eliminates shot by shot variations in the fuel injector as well as increasing the efficiency of the fuel injector. The fuel injector includes a valve control body which has a vent holes which prevent air from mixing with the working fluid. In this manner, the working fluid does not have to compress and/or dissolve the air in the working ports prior to acting on the piston and plunger mechanism in an intensifier body of the fuel injector.
