    • In order to achieve path diversity for dual-homed User-Network Interface clients connected to a Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching control plane enabled transport network that is operated in an overlay mode, the overlay extension service model is enhanced by adding shared constraint information for path diversity in the optical transport network. In particular, within the provider network, shared constraint information of a first traffic path is determined and a data element indicative of the shared constraint information is returned by a first provider edge node to a customer edge device via a User-Network Interface. When the customer edge device requests a second traffic path through the provider network to be established from a second provider edge node and to be disjoint from said first traffic path, the customer edge device forwards the data element to the second provider edge node to enable path calculation of the second traffic path using the shared constraint information as exclusion list.

    • A technique is provided for an enterprise phone to provide professional services during a communication set up in a mobile network on a private cellular phone. The technique includes a first user agent coupled to a communication server of an enterprise communication network to represent the enterprise phone as a terminal of the enterprise communication network, a classical audio interface coupled to the first user agent, and a first wireless transmitter-receiver to communicate with a second wireless transmitter-receiver embedded in the private cellular phone. The second user agent requests a set up of a second communication between itself and the first user agent so that a mobile communication already set up on the private cellular phone is connected to the enterprise phone.

    • An exemplary method and apparatus are provided for transmitting an asynchronous transport signal over an optical fiber section of an Optical Transport Network. Higher order Optical Data Units of an asynchronous transport signal to be transmitted may be encapsulated into outer transport frames that offer a payload rate higher than a nominal bit rate of the asynchronous transport signal. An output optical signal, which contains the outer transport frames with the encapsulated asynchronous transport signal, is generated at a locally generated clock rate and transmitted over an optical fiber section. To encapsulate the asynchronous transport signal, its bit rate is adapted to the payload rate of the outer transport frames, which is derived from the locally generated clock through a justification and stuffing process. The rate adapted transport signal is then synchronously mapped into the outer transport frames at the rate of the locally generated clock.
