    • A displacement device for mapping wireless signal fingerprints includes motion sensors and at least one of a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) sensor and a round trip time (RTT) sensor. The motion sensors may include a pedometer and one or more sensors to receive turn information. The start position of the displacement device is initialized and as the displacement device is moved through an environment, the position of each measurement location is determined using the initialized position and data from the motion sensors. The measurement position along with the RSSI and/or RTT measurement is stored in a database, from which a map can be generated. The position of the access point may be determined using the RSSI measurement or RTT measurement. Additionally, accumulated errors in the measurement position may be monitored and when greater than a threshold, a user may be prompted to reinitialize the position of the displacement device.

    • Methods, apparatuses and/or articles of manufacture are provided that selectively distribute location based service content for use by mobile devices with regard to certain indoor environment(s). In one example implementation, one or more computing devices generate data files that collectively represent an initial content for use by a mobile device with regard to an indoor environment, wherein at least one of the data files is generated based, at least in part, on one or more distribution schemes relating to the indoor environment. The one or more computing devices selectively initiates transmission of an indication to one or more mobile devices identifying that a shared data file corresponding to a seeded data file may be obtained from a first mobile device. The first mobile device and/or one or more of the other mobile devices may be identified based, at least in part, on the one or more distribution schemes.

    • Techniques are provided which may be implemented using various methods and/or apparatuses in a mobile device to allow the mobile device to obtain map information associated with at least a portion of an indoor environment comprising a plurality of regions. The mobile device may also obtain additional measurement information associated with at least the portion of the indoor environment, wherein the additional measurement information is based, at least in part, on previously obtained estimated position measurement information associated with a plurality of mobile devices within the indoor environment. The mobile device may determine whether access to at least one of the plurality of regions is either feasible or infeasible to a user associated with the mobile device. The determination may be based, at least in part, on the map information and the additional measurement information.
