    • To avoid the phenomenon of unsightly flickering in images projected by the projector, in high pressure discharge lamps—especially in high intensity discharge lamps, such as high pressure mercury lamps, metal halide lamps, and xenon lamps—that are used in projectors, even in the presence of the phenomenon of cyclical modulation of the lamp voltage by the returning the light spectrum when the light reflected by the dynamic color filter returns back through the optical system to the lamp, at least during steady operation of the discharge lamp (Ld), a target lamp current signal generation circuit (Up) acquires multiple lamp voltage detection signal (Sv) over a period that is at least as long as the color order cycle of the dynamic color filter (Of) and generates a target lamp current signal (St) based on the multiple lamp voltage detection signals (Sv) that were acquired.

    • A sheet conveying device of the present invention includes a roll-up guide rotatable about a shaft. When the roll-up guide is shifted to a roll-up position where it intersects a first tray, it rolls up a sheet discharged and stores the sheet in the form of a roll. The roll-up guide allows, when shifted to a pick-up position above the body of the device, the operator of the device to pick up the rolled sheet from the roll-up guide at the operating position in front of the device. The device is easy to operate and is capable of storing a sheet in the form of a roll and allowing the roll to be safely picked up without any damage.

    • A method is provided for detecting T-cell dysfunctions. The method includes detecting an alteration in the level of a protein regulating synthesis of the hexasaccharide NeuNAc.alpha.2.fwdarw.3Gal.beta.1.fwdarw.3(NeuNAc.alpha.2.fwdarw.3Gal.beta.1.fwdarw.4GlcNAc.beta.1.fwdarw.6)GalNAc on leukosialin of T-cells from a subject suspected of having a T-cell dysfunction compared to resting T-cells from a normal individual. The protein regulating synthesis of the hexasaccharide can be core 2 GlcNAc transferase and can be detected by either a change in its amount or activity. Also provided is a method of detecting T-cell dysfunctions which includes detecting an alteration in the level of leukosialin having the hexasaccharide NeuNAc.alpha.2.fwdarw.3Gal.beta.1.fwdarw.3(NeuNAc.alpha.2.fwdarw.3Gal.beta.1.fwdarw.4GlcNAc.beta.1.fwdarw.6)GlcNAc on T-cells from a subject suspected of having a T-cell dysfunction compared to resting T-cells from a normal individual. Kits for detecting T-cell dysfunction are provided as well.
