摘要： A disk drive has multiple preamplifiers (preamps) connected to the system-on-a-chip (SOC) by a common transmission line with resistors between the preamps and the SOC. Each preamp includes a read resistor at the output of each read amplifier, and a write resistor at the input of each write driver. The resistors may be programmable resistors located in the preamps. The read resistors are at the source of the signal to the transmission line and the write resistors are at the termination of the signal from the transmission line. The read and write resistors provide impendence matching with the transmission line and the SOC when one of the preamps is selected as active, which enables the SOC to operate seamlessly with a common transmission line connected to all preamps.

The secondary confinement material is a symmetric structure that surrounds the core of the SSC on all sides so that high conversion efficiency is achieved for short taper lengths.

摘要： Block copolymers (BCPs) and synthetic infiltration synthesis (SIS) are used to double the line density on a substrate. The BCP comprises first and second interconnected BCP components with a functional group at the junction or interface of the components. After deposition of the BCP on the substrate and annealing, a pattern of parallel stripes of first and second BCP components is formed with a pattern of functional group interfaces between the components. Each of the BCP components is non-reactive with atomic layer deposition (ALD) precursors, while the functional group is reactive with the ALD precursors. The ALD results in the infiltration of inorganic material into the interfaces where the reactive functional groups are located but without affecting the BCP components. After removal of the organic material, a pattern of parallel lines of inorganic material remains with a pitch half that of the stripes of BCP components.

摘要： A two-dimensional magnetic recording (TDMR) multi-sensor read head has three stacked sensors separated by magnetic shields. The lower sensor is the primary sensor that is always aligned with the target track. The middle sensor is spaced laterally from the lower sensor a distance substantially equal to the track pitch (TP). The upper sensor is aligned with the lower sensor. The spacing D between the lower and upper sensors is selected to be related to TP and a maximum skew angle, where the skew angle is the angle between a line orthogonal to the sensor and the data track that varies with radial position of the head. The read head is connected to circuitry that selects two of the three sensors to be the active sensors depending on the radial position of the head and thus the skew angle of the head.

摘要： A disk drive slider supports a microwave-assisted magnetic recording (MAMR) write head with a spin-torque oscillator (STO) and a separate corrosion monitor (CM). The CM includes a corrosion detection layer formed of the same material as the STO's spacer layer. The CM is coplanar with the STO but laterally spaced from the STO. The corrosion detection layer has an edge at the ABS so as to be exposed to the same atmospheric conditions as the STO's spacer layer. Electrical leads are located at the ends of the CM and are electrically connected to pads on the upper surface of the slider. Electrical resistance of the CM is measured by detection of current in the plane of the corrosion detection layer.
