摘要： Disclosed is a system and method for remote sensing, surface profiling, object identification, and aiming based on two-photon population inversion and subsequent photon backscattering enhanced by superradiance using two co-propagating pump waves. The present disclosure enables efficient and highly-directional photon backscattering by generating the pump waves in properly pulsed time-frequency modes, proper spatial modes, with proper group-velocity difference in air. The pump waves are relatively delayed in a tunable pulse delay device and launched to free space along a desirable direction using a laser-pointing device. When the pump waves overlap in air, signal photons will be created through two-photon driven superradiant backscattering if target gas molecules are present. The backscattered signal photons propagate back, picked using optical filters, and detected. By scanning the relative delay and the launching direction while the signal photons are detected, three-dimensional information of target objects is acquired remotely.

摘要： The present invention relates to the field of optical communication, and particularly to a balanced pumping L-band optical fiber amplifier comprising a first erbium-doped optical fiber, a second erbium-doped optical fiber, an absorbing erbium-doped optical fiber and at least two pumping lasers, the first erbium-doped optical fiber, the second erbium-doped optical fiber and the absorbing erbium-doped optical fiber being sequentially arranged in this order, and the at least two pumping lasers providing pumping light; wherein the first erbium-doped optical fiber and the second erbium-doped optical fiber both are injected with forward pumping light and backward pumping light, and the absorbing erbium-doped fiber is arranged downstream of the second erbium-doped optical fiber to absorb amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) generated in the amplifier. In the present invention, bidirectional pumping 1s applied in the first and last erbium-doped fibers in the optical path, and an erbium-doped optical fiber that has no pumping injection is added to absorb the ASE. Thus, the pumping conversion efficiency is greatly improved, the nonlinear four-wave mixing effect is reduced, and the problem that the L-band optical fiber amplifier has a high noise when utilizing the backward pumping 1s solved. Meanwhile, the noise figure and the manufacturing cost of the amplifier are reduced.

At least a portion of the light generated by the array is configured to penetrate tissue comprising skin. A detection system configured to: measure a phase shift, and a time-of-flight, of at least a portion of the light from the array of laser diodes reflected from the tissue relative to the portion of the light generated by the array; generate one or more images of the tissue; detect oxy- or deoxy-hemoglobin in the tissue; non-invasively measure blood in blood vessels within or below a dermis layer within the skin; measure one or more physiological parameters based at least in part on the non-invasively measured blood; and measure a variation in the blood or physiological parameter over a period of time.

Phase wandering may negatively impact a performance of a lidar system that employ such laser sources, typically by reducing a coherence length/range of the lidar system, an effective bandwidth of the lidar system, a sensitivity of the lidar system, etc. Some implementations of the invention compensate for phase wandering near the laser source and before the output of the laser is directed toward a target. Some implementations of the invention compensate for phase wandering in the target signal (i.e., the output of the laser that is incident on and reflected back from the target). Some implementations of the invention compensate for phase wandering at the laser source and in the target signal.

摘要： The invention relates to dispersion adjustment units for electromagnetic radiation having a spectral width, e.g., for laser pulses. The dispersion adjustment unit includes at least one dispersive element for producing angular dispersion in an angular dispersion region limited by two interaction regions of the electromagnetic radiation with the at least one dispersive element. In the angular dispersion region, individual spectral components of the electromagnetic radiation are associated with optical paths extending at an angle to one another. Furthermore, the dispersion adjustment unit includes an optical unit that is arranged in the angular dispersion region and includes an optical element that transmits the electromagnetic radiation. The optical element effects an incidence-angle-dependent parallel offset of the individual spectral components of the electromagnetic radiation with respect to the propagation of the individual spectral components before and after the optical unit.
