摘要： An electrical program guide system and method by which a desired program can be selected rapidly with certainty, intuitively and directly from among a large number of programs, in which nine reduced screens reduced from nine screens of different programs are arranged in a 3.times.3 matrix to construct one multi-screen as a screen for program selection. Six such screens for program selection are individually produced by multi-screen production circuits and encoded by MPEG video encoders, and then multiplexed by a multiplexer so that they may be transmitted via a single transmission channel. The multiplexed signal is subjected to error correction coding and QPSK modulation by a transmission line coding apparatus and then it is further subjected to frequency conversion by an up converter. The resultant signal is transmitted to an artificial satellite through a mixer and a parabola antenna. Each multi-screen received on the reception side from the satellite is displayed as 3.times.3 pieces of reduced screens of full motion, and a viewer will find out and directly select a desired program from a preview screen formed from the reduced screens.

In the multiplexed data, allowable period data is stated in association with the territory code. This allowed period is compared to the date of a calendar generator in the decoding unit. If the date of the calendar generator is comprised within the allowed period, the recording medium is decoded and reproduced.

摘要： A teletext/data transmission decoder decodes information on characters and graphics and produces a supplementary program video signal. A proper program video signal arriving by way of a video processing circuit and a display image processing section and the supplementary program video signal coming from the decoder are synthetically combined by a synthesizing section and fed to a display unit. A system controller sets the decoder in a waiting state. If the proper program video signal contains data information, the system controller automatically starts a decoding operation and controls the synthesizing section to display the restored signal on the display unit. When an automatic display select switch is set to an automatic display mode, a supplementary program processing mode is automatically selected when a supplementary program is started.

摘要： A system quickly verifies that the content of an image has not been changed since an earlier time when the content of that image was stamped. The system consists of a stamping process that embeds stamping information into a source image and produces a verification key, and a verification process that extracts stamping information from a stamped source image based on the verification key. Furthermore, the verification process produces an image itself, from which the verification can be readily judged visually or by use of a computer or other display device. In the verification process, the changes in an image can be detected and localized. The image stamping process further includes an error diffussion process so that the effects of combining the stamping information with the original image are not readily perceptable. An image is safeguarded against malicious manipulations and the proprietary rights are protected by maintaining the integrity of the image content.

摘要： Information for imposing copy generation restrictions is superimposed in the format of an XDS signal that is according to the standard of a closed caption broadcast so as to permit performance of copy generation restriction in response to such information without the need to change the structure of a TV receiver. Copy Generation Restriction Management System (CGMS) information is inserted in the format of the XDS signal defined in association with the closed caption signal superimposed on an analog TV signal at the 21-st line in a vertical blanking interval. The XDS signal is composed of a clock run-in interval, a start bit code, and a 16-bit digital signal which is divided into two bytes respectively representing first and second characters. The XDS signal and the CGMS information can be recognized from the start bit code and the first and/or second character. A recording apparatus recognizes the CGMS information on the 21-st line of a second or even-numbered field so as to perform the corresponding copy generation restriction.
