    • A lockable electrical connector assembly includes a female terminal having a terminating end for coupling to an electrical conductor and a receptacle end for receiving a male blade terminal having a locking opening therein. The receptacle end has a generally rectangular cross-section defined by a top wall, a bottom wall and a pair of short side walls. The bottom wall has a resilient tongue which includes a locking tang for locking engagement with the opening in the male blade terminal and a release cam follower for pulling the locking tang out of the opening to release the terminal. A dielectric housing has a passageway of a generally rectangular cross-section for receiving the female terminal in either of two opposite orientations. The passageway is defined by top, bottom and opposite side interior walls. Both the top and bottom interior walls have cam surfaces engageable with the release cam follower of the female terminal upon relative movement between the housing and the female terminal to effect pulling of the locking tang out of the opening in the male blade terminal to release the terminal regardless of the orientation of the female terminal in the housing passageway. The top wall of the female terminal includes a locking tab, and both the top and bottom interior walls of the housing have locking surfaces engageable with the locking tab regardless of the orientation of the female terminal in the housing passageway. Top and bottom wall portions of the receptacle end of the female terminal are bowed inwardly toward each other to define convex curved contact surfaces for engaging opposite sides of the male blade terminal, the curved contact surfaces having radii offset longitudinally of the terminal so that the contact surfaces sequentially engage the male blade terminal to reduce the insertion forces thereof.

    • An electrical contact for a multipole electrical connector, includes a contact section (56a, 57a) having a C-shaped portion with a contact point at a peak thereof; an intermediate section (56d, 57d) extending from an end of the contact section; a press-fit section (56b, 57b) extending from an end of the intermediate section; and the intermediate section having a thickness which is gradually increased toward the press-fit section, thereby bending uniformly the intermediate section when a lateral force is applied. The intermediate section has a C-shaped base portion to further reduce the spring constant. The length of an intermediate section is made different from those of adjacent intermediate sections so as to offset the contact points alternately, thereby minimizing the plugging force.

    • An electrical connector comprises an insulation housing (30) having a plurality of contact-receiving cavities (33) in which electrical contacts (10, 10') are to be inserted and secured.     • A contact pin for a printed circuit board comprises a mounting portion for mounting the contact pin in a hole in the printed circuit board. The mounting portion comprises three legs extending in the longitudinal direction of the contact pin, at least the outer legs joining a solid contact pin portion at both ends. As seen in cross section, the center leg is bent radially outwardly and lies with its inwardly directed part between the outer legs. Both outer legs are mainly twisted to a position in which these outer legs extend obliquely outwardly from the center leg, as seen in cross section. The center leg is displaced radially outwardly with respect to the longitudinal axis of the contact pin a constant distance substantially along its whole length. As seen in cross section, the center of the circle touching the outer side of the three legs, lies at a distance from the longitudinal axis of the contact pin in a direction radially opposite from the center leg.
