摘要： Systems, methods, and/or devices are used to improve decoding of data read from a storage device with one or more memory devices. In one aspect, the method includes obtaining, in response to a read request, a codeword with two or more codeword portions from distinct memory portions of the storage device. When a decoding iteration on the codeword fails to satisfy predetermined decoding criteria, the method includes, for the two or more codeword portions of the codeword: determining a bit-flip count between raw read data for a respective codeword portion and a decoding result for the respective codeword portion after the decoding iteration; determining a soft information offset for the respective codeword portion based on the bit-flip count for the respective codeword portion relative to bit-flips counts for other codeword portions; and adjusting soft information for the respective codeword portion based on the soft information offset.

摘要： Encoding of a plurality of encoded symbols is provided wherein an encoded symbol is generated from a combination of a first symbol generated from a first set of intermediate symbols and a second symbol generated from a second set of intermediate symbols, each set having at least one different coding parameter, wherein the intermediate symbols are generated based on the set of source symbols. A method of decoding data is also provided, wherein a set of intermediate symbols is decoded from a set of received encoded symbols, the intermediate symbols organized into a first and second sets of symbols for decoding, wherein intermediate symbols in the second set are permanently inactivated for the purpose of scheduling the decoding process to recover the intermediate symbols from the encoded symbols, wherein at least some of the source symbols are recovered from the decoded set of intermediate symbols.

摘要： A non-volatile memory controller for a solid state drive includes a soft-decision LDPC decoder. The soft-decision LDPC decoder includes a probability generation module. A processor reads collected statistics collated from decoded frames and tunes the performance of the soft-decision LDPC decoder performance. Additional parameters may also be taken into account, such as the scramble seed and the type of non-volatile memory. An asymmetry in errors may also be detected and provided to a hard-decision LDPC decoder to adjust its performance.

A log-likelihood ratio handler is configured to provide an input log-likelihood ratio to the decoder, wherein the input log-likelihood ratio is one of: a uniform input log-likelihood ratio for all bits calculated based on an estimated raw bit error rate for a particular data unit, or a bit-based input log-likelihood ratio for each bit calculated based on a confidence value for a cell containing said each bit. The decoder of the electronic non-volatile computer storage apparatus is configured to decode encoded data at least partially based on the input log-likelihood ratio from the log-likelihood ratio handler.

Over a first portion of a plurality of decoding iterations of the differentially encoded signal, the SISO differential decoder and the SISO forward error correction decoder are operated in a turbo decoding mode in which decoded messages generated by the SISO differential decoder are supplied to the SISO forward error correction decoder and forward error correction messages are supplied to the differential decoder. Over a second portion of the plurality of decoding iterations of the differentially encoded signal, the SISO forward error correction decoder is operated in a non-turbo decoding mode without any messages passing to and from the SISO differential decoder. Decoder output is obtained from the SISO forward error correction decoder.

Adaptive processing is performed on a signal based on one or more effects which may deleteriously modify a signal. For example, based on a modification of a signal to noise ratio (SNR) associated with one or more impulse or burst noise events, which may be estimated, different respective processing may be performed selectively to differently affected bits associated with the signal. For example, two respective SNRs may be employed: a first SNR for one or more first bits, and a second SNR for one or more second bits. For example, as an impulse or burst noise event may affect different respective bits of a codeword differently, and adaptive processing may be made such that different respective bits of the codeword may be handled differently.
