摘要： An apparatus for defining and generating boundaries of satellite coverage. The apparatus includes a processor that is configured to select a plurality of beam points, from a set of points on a coordinate system, to be included within a beam definition, and determine a number of ellipses capable of enclosing the selected beam points while excluding all remaining points of the set of points. The processor then assigns the selected beam points to a corresponding ellipse, and optimizes geometric information for each ellipse to enclose the beam points assigned thereto. A coverage beam is then defined based on a contour resulting from the combined shape of all the ellipses using the optimized geometric information.

摘要： A communication device assigns a plurality of different orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) tone blocks for a wireless local area network (WLAN) communication channel to a plurality of devices. At least a first assigned OFDM tone block has a first frequency bandwidth that is less than a smallest bandwidth of a legacy WLAN communication protocol. The communication device generates an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) physical layer (PHY) data unit for transmission in the WLAN communication channel. The OFDMA PHY data unit is generated to include: a preamble portion that includes a legacy signal field having a bandwidth equal to the smallest bandwidth of the legacy WLAN communication protocol; and a data portion that includes respective independent data for the plurality of devices modulated to respective OFDM tone blocks, including data for a first communication device modulated to the first assigned OFDM tone block.

摘要： Methods, systems, and devices are described for providing network access services to mobile users via mobile terminals over a satellite system. In embodiments, dynamic multiplexing of traffic from fixed terminals and mobile users on the same satellite beam can take advantage of statistical multiplexing of large numbers of users and on different usage patterns between fixed terminals and mobile users. In embodiments, quality-of-service (QoS) is controlled for mobile devices at a per-user level. Mobile users may be provisioned on the satellite system according to a set of traffic policies based on their service level agreement (SLA). System resources of the satellite may be allocated to mobile users based on the demand of each mobile user and the set of traffic polices associated with each mobile user, regardless of which mobile terminal is used to access the system.
