摘要： A system and method enable strengthening of flip-Flops (FFs) in an integrated circuit (IC) for the purpose of reducing power consumption. This is achieved by using stability condition (STC) and observability don't-care (ODC) techniques. Strengthening enable is defined as ensuring that a FF later in the fan-out is enabled only when a FF earlier in the fan-out is driving a signal to that later FF. In an embodiment the fan-in of a FF is traversed and the STC or ODC is determined for the FF. Dependent on the determination a STC controller or an ODC controller is added to control the FF's enable signal. In an embodiment the power savings is checked and a controller is added only if there is a reduction in overall power consumption resulting from the addition of the controller.

摘要： The invention provides a method of calibrating measurement device using a Raman-active composition, wherein the composition is active, in one embodiment, in a wavelength region that ranges from about 300 nm to about 1200 nm, and in another embodiment, from about 550 nm to about 650 nm. The method is especially useful in the calibration of fluorescent measurement devices. The method of the invention provides several advantages, such as, in facile identification of problems with the device when it occurs, in not having to tune and adjust the device very often, and neutralizing variations between different runs and different instruments. In another aspect, the invention also provides a device that is calibrated using the method of the invention. In one embodiment, the Raman-active composition useful in the invention is a derivative of 1,4-bis(2-methyl-styryl)-benzene.

摘要： A manually settable, tamper resistant indicator device suitable for use in medical and other professions, and a method for operating the device, are disclosed. An indicia member is manually moved relative to a pointer member, in setting the indicator device to display selected indicia at a pointing area. The displayed information is locked by fixing the indicia member relative to the pointer member, using a tamper resistant locking member. A fastening device, which may be tamper resistant, is used for attaching the indicator device to an article, which may be a medical device attached to a medical patient. The indicator device may be sterilized. In a medical setting, the displayed information may include a day, a date, a usage count or a personnel identifier. In one example, the indicia member has a plurality of sliding strips, each sliding strip being mounted to the pointer member and independently movable.

摘要： Enhanced corrosion resistance is achieved in a coating by using a germanium-containing precursor and hollow cathode techniques to form a first layer directly on the surface of a workpiece, prior to forming an outer layer, such as a layer of diamond-like carbon (DLC). The use of a germanium or germanium-carbide precursor reduces film stress and enables an increase in the thickness of the subsequently formed DLC. Germanium incorporation also reduces the porosity of the layer. In one embodiment, a cap layer containing germanium is added after the DLC in order to further reduce the susceptibility of the coating to chemical penetration from the top.

摘要： A modular wheelchair comprises a number of different modules that include a chassis module with frame members substantially centered along a center plane through the chassis, so that the chassis is able to lay flat when the modules are dissembled. The chassis is connected to a drive module by a single plug/receiver mechanical coupling that may include opposite end geometries. When the plug is in a seated position within the receiver, first end geometries of the two components mate mechanically to resist radial movement, while the second end geometries mate mechanically to resist both radial movement and rotation about an axis of the coupling. Additionally, axial movement in one direction is resisted, with the coupling oriented to apply gravitational force to resist axial movement in the opposite direction. The same arrangement may be used for a seat module.

摘要： A machine for applying ultraviolet light to curable coatings on floors and other wide area surfaces. A housing encloses rotating arms carrying UV lamps spinning about a central axis. Rotation is caused by reactive momentum from heated air jets coming from fans in barrels blowing air over heated wires, resembling hand held hair dryers, with the barrels supported under rotating arms. The heated wires are ballast for the lamps, providing thermal and electrical stability. The rotating lamps cover an annular pattern which, when advanced forwardly, becomes a linear swath, almost as wide as the housing. A floor, or similar surface, can be cured in a few minutes.
