    • The invention relates to a method of determining a replacement distance when taking aim on a target (2) with a target distance D (6) and an elevation angle α (5) between a line of sight (4) to the target (2) and a horizontal plane (3) with a weapon (9) in order to fire projectiles with an approximately flat trajectory. The replacement distance is determined from the target distance D (6) by means of a correction function, and the correction function is determined exclusively from non-ballistic characteristic values and at least as a function of the target distance D (6) and the difference in angle between the elevation angle α (5) and the shooting angle.

    • The invention relates to solid or gel-type nanocomposite material which can be polymerised, containing a) 4.9 95.9 wt. % of a soluble polymer; b) 4-95 wt. % of a partially or totally condensed silane selected from the group of epoxyalkoxysilanes, alkoxysilanes and alkylalkoxysilanes, the silane having an inorganic condensation degree of between 33-100% and an organic conversion degree of between 0-95%; c) 0-60 wt. % of an acrylate; d) 0.1-50 wt. % of surface modified nanometric particles selected from the group of oxides, sulphides, selenides, tellurides, halogenides, carbides, arsenides, antimonides, nitrides, phosphides, carbonates, carboxylates, phosphates, sulphates, silicates, titanates, zirconates, aluminates, stannates, plumbates and a mixed oxides; e) 0-50 wt.-% of a plasticizer; f) 0-5 wt. % of a thermal or photochemical cross-linking initiator, sensitizer, auxiliary wetting agent, adhesive agent, antioxidant, stabiliser, coloring agent, photochrome material and thermochrome material in relation to the total weight (dry weight) of the nanocomposite material.

    • An electrophoretic display including a cell having two plates spaced apart and provided at least regionally with electrodes, where at least one plate and an associated electrode facing the observer are transparent. The cell contains a suspension consisting of an inert dielectric liquid phase and a dispersed solid phase which at least in part are optically discriminable electrophoretic particles. The individual electrophoretic particles each are of practically the same density as the liquid phase, and at least part of the electrophoretic particles are pigment particles provided with a coating of organic material which is solid at the cell operating temperature but which melts at higher temperatures. The coating material contains at least one charge control agent. The charge control agent, preferably a salt of a divalent metal or metal of higher valency and of an organic acid, imparts a well-defined, uniform surface charge and a well defined, uniform surface potential to the particles.
