    • An electrical machine includes a rotor located at a central shaft and a stator located radially outboard of the rotor and secured at a back iron. A first baffle is coupled to the central shaft at one axial end of the rotor, the baffle extending radially outwardly from the shaft toward a baffle cavity at the back iron. A flow of coolant is urged toward the baffle cavity along the baffle via centrifugal force. A method of flowing coolant through an electrical machine includes injecting a flow of coolant substantially radially into an electrical machine cavity. The flow of coolant is urged radially outwardly along a rotating baffle located at one axial end of a rotor of the electrical machine via centrifugal force and into a baffle cavity disposed at the back iron at a radial end of the baffle.

    • A rotor for a dynamoelectric machine may include a rotor shaft having a first shaft and a second shaft within the first shaft. The two shafts include discharge orifices for communicating a cooling fluid through the machine. A rotor core of the machine includes a lamination having an annular portion that circumscribes an open center, a plurality of pole portions extending outwardly from the annular portion, and coil winding regions adjacent to the pole portions. One or more channels extend between the open center and the coil winding regions to communicate a cooling fluid. Coil windings of the machine may be at least partially encased in insulators. Each insulator may include a fluid entry orifice located between the insulator ends to communicate a cooling fluid. An end plate of the machine may include fluid discharge outlets for communicating cooling fluid received from the coil windings.

A coolant system for the plurality of motor controller has a common inlet line, a common outlet line, and a plurality of parallel branch lines leading to the plurality of motor controllers. A control selectively increases a flow of coolant to certain of the plurality of motor controllers or limits the flow of coolant to others of the plurality of motor controllers. In addition, a method of operating a system of motor controllers is disclosed and claimed.
