    • A correction system for correcting and maintaining the baseline offset signal value of a PMT channel of a scintillation detector at a predetermined value. The correction system utilizes an event driven mode wherein the correction is performed based on detected gamma interactions and this mode is utilized during periods of high count rate. Using the event driven correction mode, the system provides an output of far PMT channels based on a detected peak PMT channel. In a second mode, software driven correction, false triggers are inserted into the processing logic to initiate sampling of the baseline offset signal value and "simulate" gamma interactions. The false triggers are used by the system to perform baseline correction. The second mode is used during periods of lower count rate. Under both modes, the system effectively samples the baseline offset values from a channel that detects substantially no light energy to sample the baseline offset amount. This sampled value is averaged and compensated for against an ideal reference value, Vm. This is performed independently for each channel.

    • The disclosed balloon catheter includes a proximal catheter segment, a distal catheter segment, and an inflatable balloon member secured to and disposed between the proximal and distal catheter segments. A tension member is secured to the distal catheter segment and passes through the lumen of a coil spring included in the proximal catheter segment, such that the tension member is free to slide within the coil spring. A stop member is secured to the proximal end of the tension member to limit the sliding movement of the tension member inside the proximal catheter segment. The disclosed structure permits the balloon member to stretch both axially and circumferentially as it inflates, thereby improving the concentricity of the resulting balloon. In addition, in the preferred embodiment the stop member is positioned on the tension member such that the tension member is free to slide further in the coil spring after the balloon member has been inflated to its normal inflated state, thereby providing protection against overpressures in the balloon member.

    • A sterilizable, peelable pouch or tray for medical and surgical equipment. The pouch comprises two superimposed sheets, preferably of autoclavable plastic, interconnected by an edge-strip of folded-over plastic affixed to the exterior surfaces of the sheet. The strip extends around at least a portion of the perimeter of the sheet edges and serves to provide a readily separable interconnection between the sheets. The sheets are separated by merely peeling one sheet back, thereby ripping the folded-over strip at the juncture between the two sheets. The tray assembly is similar with an upper plastic sheet removably, peelably affixed to a lower formed plastic cardboard or metal tray by the perimeter strips.

    • A catheter for introducing fluid into the vascular system includes ports in the catheter's sidewall which are obliquely angled with respect to the longitudinal axis of the catheter. Certain pairs of ports are oriented toward each other, and certain other pairs of ports are oriented away from each other. The arrangement of ports causes fluid to exit the ports in streams which are oriented at oblique angles corresponding to the angles of the port. The obliquely angled streams create advantageous circulation paths proximate to the catheter which generally improve efficacy of the injected fluid associated with the medical application. The catheter may be used for a variety of purposes, including to perform thrombolysis.
