    • An internal combustion engine has a starter device, wherein the starter device has a drive member and a driven member and a locking mechanism for coupling the drive member and the driven member to one another for starting the internal combustion engine. The locking mechanism has at least one pawl that is pivotably supported on the driven member. For decoupling the drive member and the driven member, the at least one pawl is pivoted outwardly relative to an axis of rotation of the starter device. The at least one pawl has at least one pivot position in which the at least one pawl contacts at least one contact area of the driven member. The at least one pawl has at least one cover covering the at least one contact area.

    • A protective shield (2) is provided for a free-cutting tool (1). The free-cutting tool has a cutterhead (4) rotatable about a rotational axis (3) and carries a cutting filament (5). For a rotating cutterhead (4), the cutting filament (5) rotates in a rotational direction (10), aligns itself approximately radially to the rotational axis (3) and defines a cutting circle (6) having a constructively pregiven nominal radius (R). The cutting radius (6) is at least partially covered by the protective shield (2). A cut-to-length knife (7) having a cutting edge (8) for cutting the cutting filament (5) to length is mounted on the protective shield (2) in the peripheral region thereof. The cut-to-length knife (7) is mounted on the protective shield (2) to be moveable back and forth between a cutting position (11) and a rest position (12). The cutting edge (8) lies in the plane of the cutting circle (6) in the cutting position (11) and has the nominal radius (R) to the rotational axis (3) and, in the rest position (12), the cutting edge (8) lies outside of the cutting circle (6).

    • A hand-held working tool has a housing and an internal combustion engine arranged in the housing and comprising a crankshaft and an air filter. A tool is driven by the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine. A fan housing is attached to the engine housing and has an air inlet. A fan wheel is arranged in the fan housing and is driven by the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine to supply cooling air, sucked in through the air inlet, to the internal combustion engine. The fan housing has a bottom extending radially to the crankshaft. The bottom and a side of the fan wheel facing the bottom define a chamber in the fan housing. The bottom has a combustion air outlet. A combustion air channel is connected to the combustion air outlet and to the air filter. The combustion air outlet is axially supplying combustion air from the chamber through the combustion air channel into the air filter of internal combustion engine. The fan housing has a channel wall having a bottom portion connected to the face of the bottom remote from the fan wheel and covering the bottom partially to form a double-walled bottom. The end face portion of the combustion air channel is defined by the bottom and the bottom portion of the channel wall. In an alternative embodiment the combustion air channel is provided in a hollow beam of a support that supports the drive unit of the working tool.

    • The invention is directed to an arrangement of an air filter (1) and a membrane carburetor (2). The membrane carburetor (2) has an intake channel section (3) configured in the carburetor housing (4) and fuel-conducting channels (6) open into the intake channel section (3). The channels (6) are supplied from a fuel-filled control chamber (7) which is configured in the carburetor housing (4). The control chamber (7) is partitioned from a compensation chamber (11) via a control membrane (10). The compensation chamber (11) communicates with the housing (14, 16) of the air filter (1) via a compensation channel (13) downstream of an air filter element (39). The air filter housing (14) engages over the membrane carburetor (2) essentially on the side of the compensation chamber (11) and the clean chamber (24) of the air filter housing (14) communicates with the intake channel section via a connecting stub (37) which lies approximately at right angles to the intake channel section (3). The connecting stub (37) is used as a connection between the clean chamber (24) of the air filter (1) and a flow space (26) mounted forward of the intake channel section (3) in order to ensure a reliable compensation where available space is tight. The volume of the flow space (26) is greater than the volume of the connecting stub (37) and the compensation channel (13) branches away from the flow space (26).
