摘要： Provided are a ceramic composite for light conversion, which is capable of maintaining a high radiant flux even when the proportion of Gd and Ce is increased to tune the fluorescence peak wavelength to the longer wavelength side, a process for producing the ceramic composite, and a light emitting device including the ceramic composite. The ceramic composite for light conversion is a solidification product including a composition that is represented by a specific formula, and has a texture of continuously and three-dimensionally mutually entangled oxide phases including at least two phases of a first phase and a second phase, characterized in that the first phase is a Y3Al5O12 fluorescent phase activated with Ce, and the second phase is an Al2O3 phase, and the first phase and second phase account for 97% by area or more of a cross section of the solidification product, or characterized in that the first phase is a Y3Al5O12 fluorescent phase activated with Gd and Ce, and the second phase is an Al2O3 phase, and the first phase and second phase account for 97% by area or more of a cross section of the solidification product.

Further, by removing at least one crystal phase from this ceramic composite material, there is provided a porous ceramic material consisting of at least one crystal phase and pores, said crystal phase and pores having non-regular shapes and being three dimensionally continuous and intertwined with each other.

摘要： An inorganic fiber sinter consists essentially of (a) an inorganic substance (I) selected from the group consisting of (i) an amorphous substance consisting essentially of Si, M, C and O, (ii) an agglomerate consisting essentially of crystalline ultrafine particles of .beta.-SiC, MC, a solid solution of .beta.-SiC with MC and/or MC.sub.1-x, and amorphous SiO.sub.2 and MO.sub.2, and (iii) a mixture of the above amorphous substance (i) and the agglomerate (ii), and (b) an inorganic substance (II) selected from the group consisting of (iv) an amorphous substance consisting essentially of Si, M and O, (v) a crystal agglomerate consisting essentially of crystalline SiO.sub.2 and MO.sub.2, and (iv) a mixture of the amorphous substance (iv) and the crystal agglomerate (v), wherein M is Ti or Zr and x is a number of more than 0 to less than 1. Due to its high uniformity and high strength, the sinter is used mainly for internal combustion engine parts such as a piston ring and an auxiliary combustion chamber, and rocket engine parts such as a nose cone and a nozzle.
