    • The invention discloses a liquid crystal display (LCD) apparatus and a brightness/luminance holding ratio compensation method. A backlight module of the LCD apparatus may form a plurality of backlight shield-blocking periods in a display frame cycle or adjust output brightness gradually, for compensating a brightness/luminance bias caused by a transmittance variance of liquid crystal cell in the low refresh rate driving LCD apparatus, so as to avoid some abnormal display effects, such as screen flicker. Besides, the LCD apparatus has better energy efficiency by utilizing a low-voltage gray level driving method or saving the power consumption of the backlight module.

    • A method for transmitting and detecting touch sensing signals in a touch device having a set of parallel conducting lines includes: providing a work signal and a touch sensing signal to a selected portion of the conducting lines that serve as touch sensing lines and that cooperate to define a touch sensing area; and detecting the touch sensing lines to obtain a detecting signal that corresponds to the touch sensing signal and that indicates occurrence of a touch event, so as to determine at least one of a position and an intensity of the touch event.     • A light collecting module includes a pliable light guide, an inner light source, and a photocell. A surface of the light guide has a first area, a second area, and a third area. The first and second areas face each other, and the third area is adjacent to the first or second area. At least one optical structure is formed in the second area, and the photocell is adjacent to the third area. The optical structure is for redirecting ambient light incident on the first or second area such that the ambient light is guided to the third area by refraction or reflection and incident on the photocell.     • Disclosure is related to a control system with an input method using recognition of facial expressions. The system includes an image capturing unit, an image processing unit, a database, and a computing unit. The image capturing unit captures an input image having a facial expression when a user uses lip language. The image processing unit, connected with the image capturing unit, is used to receive and recognize the facial expression shown in the input image. The database stores a plurality of reference images and each of which indicates a corresponding control command. The computing unit, connected with the image processing unit and the database, performs comparison between the facial expression recognized by the image processing unit and the reference images retrieved from the database. The result of comparison finds out the control command which is used to operate an electronic device by this control system.
