    • Repeated inserting, tightening, loosening, and removing of external threads to internal threads can increase the likelihood of cross threading and thread damage. A spring loaded gear bolt assembly, which promotes alignment of mating threads before applying torque, is described. A spring is disposed on the back end of a bolt shaft to promote alignment of lead mating threads before twisting to engage external to internal threads. A gear chain translates a single hand rotation to thread two bolts into respective affixed internal threaded holes, simultaneously. A spring loaded gear bolt assembly and method described herein promote increased thread life and ease of use ease for test plate securing. Efficient single handed manipulation of multiple bolts simultaneously can be achieved using a test plate assembly, which included spring loaded gear bolt assemblies, as described herein. Applications of a spring loaded gear bolt include infrared adapter test plate assemblies.

    • An anchored 522 male electrical connector is provided. A stationary housing 520 is combined with a coupling ring 540 to form an outer housing. An internal plunger 560 is housed in and spans the length of the outer housing. The stationary housing 520 mounts onto an anchoring surface via an anchor mount 522, while the coupling ring 540 is free to rotate about the internal plunger 560. The coupling ring is rotated via a hand grasp 441. The coupling ring rotation 442, 443 translates into forward and aft movement of the pin assembly 515. The connector provides forward 520-1 and backward stops 520-4 for limiting pin insertion and extraction moves to desired distances. Rotation via triple start threads 548, 525 readily overcomes insertion and extraction resistance of a bulky multi-pin assembly 515 and provides a smooth and controlled electrical connection. The connector may be sized to meet multi-pin connector needs or military standards.

    • The reed employs two spaced apart cylinders with slots in their outer surfaces. The slots extend around the axis of each cylinder a given distance. The slots of each cylinder flare out from each other from one edge to an opposite edge. Dents are supported for movement between the two cylinders and have guides located in the slots of each cylinder. The two cylinders can be rotated together in one direction or in an opposite direction for causing the slots to move the guides and hence the dents apart or together to obtain changes in the width of the fabric along the warp direction. This change in width will cause the warp density to vary along the length of the fabric while maintaining continuous warp yarn. This feature also allows warp strands of different cross-section to be woven.

    • A cutterbar includes a plurality of modules connected in end-to-end relationship with each other, the modules respectively including identical cast gear housing sections which cooperate to form a gear housing in which is located a spur gear drive train. Each module includes a removably mounted cutting unit, with the cutting units having blade-carrying discs and being arranged such that the discs are indexed 90.degree. relative to each other and in counter rotating pairs, when an even number of units are used to form a cutterbar but being arranged such that the leftmost and adjacent blade-carrying discs rotate in the same direction when an odd number of modules are used. The construction of the leftmost module is such that the axis of rotation of the drive shaft of the cutting unit thereof is located rearwardly of a line of centers passing through drive shafts of the cutting units of the remaining modules whereby adequate clearance is provided between the paths of rotation of the cutting blades of the leftmost and adjacent cutting units. A unitary skid pan extends beneath and is connected to each of the modules and serves to both protect the housing sections from damage during operation and to support the modules during assembly and repair of the cutterbar.

    • An electrical connector for testing of a missile launch rail is provided. A stationary housing is combined with a coupling ring to form an outer housing. An internal plunger is housed in the outer housing and spans the length of the outer housing. The stationary housing anchors to the missile launch rail, while the coupling ring is free to rotate about the internal plunger. The coupling ring is rotated via a hand grasp. The coupling ring rotation translates into forward and aft movement of the pin assembly. The connector provides forward and backward stops for limiting pin insertion and extraction moves to desired distances. Rotation via triple-start threads readily overcomes insertion and extraction resistance of a bulky multi-pin assembly and provides a smooth and controlled electrical connection. The size of the connector approaches that of a small conventional military standard 38999 series III connector.

    • A trailer, for a header-equipped implement, has a T-shaped main frame, with the head of the T being defined by a beam extending in the direction of travel and with the stem of the T centered between a pair of loading ramps having first end portions coupled to the beam for pivoting about a fulcrum such that the ramps are moved from a loading to a transport position by the weight of the implement when the implement is backed up the ramps to a loaded position resting on the beam and in engagement with respective bumper/latch bars fixed to the beam. Stability of the trailer is maintained during loading of the implement by parking stands, at opposite ends of the beam, which are either manually or automatically moved between support and stored positions. The wheels are each mounted to an arm having a latch hook secured thereto and which moves into latched engagement with a respective one of the bumper latch/bars to secure the implement to the trailer when the arms are raised by the implement lift cylinders to lower the header onto the frame stem. The implement has a swing tongue used to tow the trailer/implement combination endwise relative to the header. Mounted to one of the ramps is a storable trailer tongue which may be used to tow the trailer when it is empty.

The main header drive shaft is coupled to a first header drive box containing right-angle gearing for directing power to a downwardly extending through shaft extending through a second header gear box to a left-most cutting unit of a rotary cutterbar extending transversely across a header suspended for floating over undulating terrain during cutting operation. The second header gear box contains gearing for driving a multiple groove, v-belt drive pulley mounted to an output shaft projecting leftwardly from the second header gear box, the drive pulley forming part of a multiple v-belt drive coupled to a third header gear box containing intermeshed spur gears coupled for counter-rotating upper and lower conditioner rolls extending transversely behind the rotary cutterbar. In a second embodiment, the drive pulley is mounted to a shaft projecting rightwardly from the second header gear box and forming part of a multiple v-belt drive coupled for driving a rotary impeller conditioner extending transversely behind the rotary cutterbar. In a third embodiment, the second header gear box is eliminated and the rotary impeller conditioner is driven from the first gear box through a v-belt drive including a v-belt pulley mounted to a shaft projecting rightwardly from the first gear box.

    • A multi-part frame structure forming a mill housing for a rolling mill assembly is disclosed. The housing includes six separate and distinct components, namely a bottom separator member, a top separator member spaced above and disposed in registry with the bottom member and four elongated, upstanding columns of rectangular cross-section adjoining the top and bottom separator members to form a substantially rectangular opening for the passage of a steel strip therethrough during cold rolling operations. The top and bottom separator members are each of T-shaped cross-section defining a pair of tee arms which extend transversely across the frame and project forwardly and rearwardly from a tee leg. The tee arms of the top separator member are inserted in close spaced relation in traversely extending notches formed in upper end portions of the four columns. Similiarly, the tee arms of the bottom separator are inserted in close spaced relation in transversely extending notches formed in lower end portions of the four columns. Threaded fasteners connect the four columns to opposing front and rear side portions of the separators to secure the tee arms in the notches. Conventional work and back-up and work rolls, chock blocks for the back-up rolls, and other conventional components of a rolling mill assembly are mountable in the housing in a conventional manner.
