摘要： When a content playback apparatus has detected a content data acquisition error in a process of acquiring title screen content serving as next content that is to be reproduced after top screen content, the content playback apparatus reproduces sub-content contained as error-handling information in the top screen content, and then displays an error screen. The error screen is contained as sub-content in the top screen content, and therefore can be changed flexibly. This makes it possible to provide a content playback apparatus capable of performing error handling flexibly in accordance with the content being reproduced.

摘要： A display data generating apparatus according to the present invention includes: (i) a specification information specifying section for acquiring specification information of a television which specification information concerns display of an image, (ii) an image size control section for generating a display image by changing the number of pixels of the image in accordance with the specification information such that the image is to be displayed in a predetermined display size on the image display apparatus, and (iii) a display control information generating section for generating, in accordance with the specification information, display control information for defining a position of the display image on the screen of the image display apparatus. This makes it possible to realize an image data providing apparatus, which causes an image display apparatus to display an image in a predetermined display size.

摘要： An electronic device (1) constitutes a remote control system (100) together with a remote control device (3) and at least one controlled device (2/2′), and the electronic device (1) includes: a first reception section (20) that receives, from the remote control device, a direct command signal (7/7′) broadcasted to the electronic device and the controlled device; a second reception section (23) that receives, from the controlled device, an indirect command signal (8) having been generated by the controlled device according to the direct command signal having been received from the remote control device; and a control section (10) including signal selecting means (31) that selects one intended command signal to which a response is needed from a signal group according to a predetermined rule, the signal group consisting of the direct command signal having been received by the first reception section and the indirect command signal having been received by the second reception section. This makes it possible to properly select and process a signal to be followed in the electronic device where a plurality of command signals are redundantly supplied with respect to one command signal from the remote control device.

摘要： In a television, a single screen is split into a plurality of split-screens, and content displayed is different for each of the split-screens. In the television, the content selecting section selects content assigned in advance with each of the split-screens. A display section displays the content thus selected, on a corresponding one of the split-screens in a display. For example, a first split-screen displays a television program while a second split-screen displays a web page containing information on the television program. When a screen mode (pattern of split-screen) is changed, content corresponding to the screen modes is selected again and displayed. By the foregoing way, the content is displayed in a state suitable for respective split-screens.

The first device transmits to the second device a content data list of a TV broadcast program (content data) and the like stored in its storing unit. At that time, the first device receives from the second device a content data list of a TV broadcast program and the like, the content data list being read from a storing unit of the second device. Similarly, the second device receives the content data list from the first device. Each of the first and second devices compares the content data list in its own storing unit and the received content data list, and based on a comparison result, searches its own storing unit. Through the search, identical content data owned by both of the first and second devices is displayed at the first and second devices.
