摘要： A two color process section included in the image processing apparatus includes a luminance and chroma calculation section, an image-data determination section, and an output-color generation section. The luminance and chroma calculation section calculates a luminance value and a chroma value based on input image data. The image-data determination section determines the input image data, the chroma value of which is equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold, as first input image data constituting a chromatic color in a two-color image and determines the input image data, the chroma value of which is less than the threshold, as second input image data constituting an achromatic color in the two-color image. The output-color generation section generates image data of CMY from the first input image data based on the chroma value and the luminance value and generates image data of CMY from the second input image data based on the luminance value.

摘要： A segmentation process section classifies signals of pixels in input image data into respective signals of a black text/low density area, a black text/high density area, a color text area, and an area other than a text area. A black generation and under color removal section performs an under color removal process with respect to the signal of the black text/low density area so that an amount of UCR is a middle value (C, M, Y) of signals indicative of color component density levels. Consequently, it is possible to prevent color fringing and a white spot at a time when chromatic aberration occurs in the input image data.

摘要： An image processing apparatus performs a downsampling process on image data, and supplies the image data after the downsampling process to a display device as image data for use in a display. Further, the image processing apparatus includes: a segmentation process section which performs a segmentation process on the image data; and a spatial filter section which performs first image processing that varies according to a result of the segmentation process. When a degree of downsampling in the downsampling process is not higher than a predetermined reference level, the spatial filter section performing the first image processing on the image data; and when the degree of downsampling in the downsampling process is higher than the predetermined reference level, the spatial filter section performs second image processing irrelevant to the result of the segmentation process, instead of performing the first image processing, on the image data. This brings about an advantage of making it possible to suppress deterioration in quality of an image whose preview is displayed.
