摘要： A developing device includes a toner bearing member holding a toner on its surface for conveyance of the toner to a development region where the toner bearing member opposes an image bearing member via a predetermined gap therebetween; a regulating member pressed against the surface of the toner bearing member for regulation of the amount of toner conveyed to the development region; and a developing bias source for applying an alternating electric field between the toner bearing member and the image bearing member. The developing device features the use of the toner bearing member including a conductive substrate formed with an elastic layer, an intermediate layer and a surface layer on the surface thereof, respective volume resistances &rgr;1, &rgr;2 and &rgr;3 of which layers satisfy a condition &rgr;2≦&rgr;1≦&rgr;3, the toner bearing member having an arithmetic average surface roughness in the range of 0.8 to 2.5 &mgr;m, and the use of the toner having a volume-average particle size of 3 to 8 &mgr;m.

摘要： In order to achieve such effects that memories such as image memory due to untransferred residual toner can be sufficiently prevented, and good images can be obtained by suppressing base fogging and reduction of entire image density for a long term, an oscillating voltage composed of a DC ingredient and an oscillating ingredient is applied to a charging device for charging a photosensitive member, while the charging device is in a position facing an image forming region of the photosensitive member. While the charging device is in a position facing an image non-forming region of the photosensitive member, only a DC voltage is applied to the charging device for at least a predetermined time.

摘要： An image forming device having a transfer unit that transfers the toner image formed on the image carrier onto transfer paper, such that the toner image can be transferred with good results regardless of fluctuations in the environment, by (a) returning to the feedback side of the power source, via a constant voltage element, part of the electric current that flows to (i) the transfer unit, to which a prescribed voltage is applied by the power source, and (ii) the guide member that supports the transfer paper, said electric current flowing to said guide member via said transfer paper, and by (b) controlling the voltage of the power source such that the voltage on the feedback side of the power source will be constant.
