    • A battery pack includes one or more cell blocks in which one or more secondary battery cells are connected in series and/or in parallel, and a control section for measuring a voltage of the one or more cell blocks to detect an abnormality of a cell block on the basis of a measurement result. The control section calculates a time differential of the voltage for the one or more cell blocks on the basis of the measured voltage, extracts a first time differential which is maximum and a second time differential which is minimum from the time differentials of the voltage for the one or more cell blocks, and determines that a cell block corresponding to the second time differential is abnormal in a case where a difference between the first time differential and the second time differential is less than a prescribed value.

    • A battery pack (1) is connected to an external circuit (9) and to a power source circuit (10) which is also connected to the external equipment (9). The battery pack (1) is discharged to supply the current to the external equipment (9) or is charged by the current supplied from the power source circuit (10). An analog circuit (12) and a micro-computer (11) within the battery pack (1) detect the on/off state of the external circuit (9) and effect charging in the on-state of the external equipment with the power equal to the total supply power from the power source circuit less the maximum power consumed by the external equipment, while effecting charging during the off-state of the external equipment with the supply power from the power source circuit. The charging/discharging control is performed by the on/off control by the micro-computer (11) of a charging switch (S1), a discharging switch (S2) and a switch (S4).

    • A battery pack having a detection recess formed along a center line of a bottom surface arranged such that the detection recess is engaged with a convexed portion of a battery charger. Therefore, whether or not the battery pack is properly attached to the battery charger can easily be detected by the inclination of the battery pack about the center line. Further, a battery pack is arranged such that an aperture is formed on an outer surface of the battery pack and an output terminal is inwardly disposed on the aperture. Therefore, damage to the batteries in the battery pack caused by a short-circuit resulting from products made of conductive metal material such as a key ring, necklace, or chain contacting both of the output terminals, as occurs when terminals are disposed on the outer surface of the battery pack, can be prevented. Furthermore, the battery pack includes apertures with output terminals disposed therein for discharging dust or the like away from the terminals into the interior of the casing or out of the casing through a hole. Therefore, the accumulation of dust or the like within the apertures and upon the output terminals is prevented.
