摘要： A method and apparatus for producing video content. The method includes acquiring video data from a source. If the video data is not digitized, then the video data is digitized. The method includes generating scene indexes for the video data including a representative still image for each scene and combining the video data and scene indexes along with a media player on a video disc. The video player is operable to play the video data in accordance with the scene indexes including playing a scene from the video data on a client computer while displaying the representative stills for other of the scenes available for display on the video disc.

摘要： A process and facility supports recipient-specific customization of mass-duplicated tapes. Video from a master tape is passed through a VBI encoder whose output feeds two or more overlay units, each associated with a tape recorder. Recipient-specific watermarking instructions and address information for each tape are fed to the VBI encoder where they are encoded into the VBI of the video. Each overlay unit reads the VBI and decodes the address, and if relevant for that unit, applies the overlays to the video, which is recorded by its associated recording deck. Optionally, each tape and overlay unit includes a barcode that is scanned into a database where associations between tapes and the overlays are stored. Alternatively, high-density barcode labels that include the overlay instructions are printed and applied to tapes. The barcodes are scanned into the overlay units and applied following the receipt of a timecode or other trigger.

摘要： A radio or television apparatus has tuning circuitry for selecting a channel from an input spectrum, an output for presenting a presentation from a selected channel, a recording apparatus having a memory with capacity for recording a fixed time duration T of the selected presentation, and adapted to make an audio record sequentially in a circular fashion, such that when the memory capacity is filled, the device continues to record, overwriting the oldest recorded information, providing thereby, at any point in time, a stored copy of time duration T immediately preceding the point in time. This innovation provides limited rewind capability for real-time data streams. In alternative embodiments add-on devices are provided for existing radios and TVs.

摘要： An intelligent control platform for routing, switching and mixing audio/visual signals includes a program signal crosspoint matrix which is programmably and adaptively configurable to select between appropriate program sources and program destinations when the system is in a particular one of a number of operational modes. Operational modes supported by the system include digitize mode, layback mode, edit and dub modes. The crosspoint matrix defines default signal paths between sources and destinations for each of the operational modes and precludes selection of any inappropriate signal path that would result in feedback loops, inappropriate signal levels or misdirected signals.

摘要： A near video-on-demand (VOD) service enabled using a digital video recorder (DVR) for the simultaneous storage and playback of multimedia data. A DVR is connected over a network to a multimedia network source. A VOD selection is requested by the DVR from the network source. A multimedia data signal is received by the DVR from the network source. The data signal contains the requested VOD selection. A first received portion of the received data signal is stored on the DVR. The first received segment is played by the DVR for display on a display device. Simultaneously during the playing of the first received segment, a second received segment of the received data signal is received from the network source and stored on the DVR while the first received segment is played the display device. Thus, the requested VOD selection begins playing on the display device prior to the reception of the entire compressed multimedia data signal so that a requested VOD selection can begin being displayed nearly instantaneously after the request for it is made. A video-on-request (VOR) service is also enabled using a DVR. VOR selection data is received by a centralized database device, such as a network server, from a plurality of users. Each VOR selection data includes at least one requested video selection and video recorder identifying information for identifying each particular video recorder. A transmission priority of requested video selections is determined dependent on the frequency of requests 1received from the plurality of users. A transmission channel and time is determined based on the transmission priority. DVR control signals are transmitted to automatically tune in the determined transmission channel at the determined transmission time and record the particular video selection.

摘要： The present invention is concerned with an audio equipment capable of processing video signals and a method of displaying operation of the acoustic equipment. An input selector switch 1 is supplied with reproduced audio signals from devices connected to a tuner unit 2 and input terminals 3, and supplies a signal to a sound field processing DSP unit 4. A signal processed by the DSP unit 4 is applied through a muting switch 5 to an output terminal 6. An input selector switch 7 is supplied with reproduced video signals from devices connected to input terminals 8, and supplies a signal to a graphic controller (GDC) 9 which generates a video signal to display an image. One of a signal generated by the GDC 9 and an original video signal are selected by a switch 10, and applied to an output terminal 11. The GDC 9 also generates an image simulating a control panel. When a key switch 13 is operated, the display corresponding to the operated key in the simulating image is varied.

摘要： Personalized story presentations, such as video movies, are prepared with the aid of a kit including a film camera, pose instruction set and chroma-key backdrop. The camera is preferably a special single-use camera having a visual aid strip seen in the viewfinder showing a series of poses associated with a selected story line. An optional audio accessory is provided to capture spoken phrases and other sounds to be associated with the presentation. The exposed film and sound recording are submitted to a photofinisher/image processor where the images and audio are digitized and incorporated into a preexisting digitized story using existing image processing programs. When completed, the personalized story is recorded on suitable playback media and returned to the customer. The same process can be used to create interactive game programs.
