    • An excavator has a controller capable of setting target torque of a rotation motor in accordance with a speed deviation between target speed set in accordance with an operation amount of an operating lever and actual rotation speed and is provided with an inverter for detecting necessary torque for rotating an upper rotating body, the necessary torque being changed in accordance with a working state of the upper rotating body. The controller calculates a correction amount which is increased as increasing the torque and subtracts the correction amount from the target speed so as to set new target speed. A controller sets first target torque for driving the motor and second target torque for maintaining the upper rotating body on the spot on the basis of the actual speed, and operates the motor in accordance with the torque which has a larger absolute value in the same direction as the first target torque among both the torque.

    • An inverter/converter as a kind of hybrid unit is composed of a body and a casing covering the body and is disposed in an engine room. An air intake port and an air discharge port each provided with a fan are formed in the casing to configure an internal air cooling device for introducing air present outside the engine room into the casing, allowing the air to flow through the interior of the casing and then discharging it from the air discharge port. A power divider for distributing engine power to a hydraulic pump and a generator-motor is disposed on one of right and left sides of an engine in a rear portion of an upper rotating body. Further, an electric power storage device and the inverter/converter are disposed right and left in parallel behind a cabin and in front of the engine, and a partition wall which defines the engine room is configured by casings of the electric power storage device, the inverter/converter and the power divider.

    • There are provided an electric motor driven by (electric) power from a battery; a hydraulic pump driven by the electric motor; a hydraulic motor driven by operating oil discharged from the hydraulic pump; an operating member for performing a predetermined operation by the drive of the hydraulic motor; and operating levers for operating the operating member by switching a flow and a shut-off of the operating oil discharged from the hydraulic pump. The operating levers are operatable between a neutral position at which the hydraulic motor stops operation and an operating position at which the hydraulic motor operates. An accel-trimmer is provided to adjust the supply amount of power from the battery to the electric motor in the state where the operating levers are operated to the operating position.

    • A slewing-type working machine includes: a hydraulic motor for slewing an upper slewing body; a hydraulic pump; a slewing operation device including an operation member; a control valve controlling the hydraulic motor based on an operation signal of the slewing operation device; first and second pipe-lines connecting first and second ports of the hydraulic motor to the control valve; communication switching devices switching communication and cutoff between both pipe-lines and a tank; an electric motor; an electric storage device; and a controller, which communicates an outlet-side pipe-line to the tank during slewing, makes a brake based on a regenerative action by the electric motor and the electric storage device and causes the electric storage device to store regenerative power, upon deceleration operation. Upon failure occurrence, the controller brings the communication switching devices to a communication-cutoff state and stops the regenerative action to secure slewing.
