    • Provided is a method for finding a minimal signed digit with variable multi-bit coding. The method includes the steps of: scanning and grouping given multi-bit and checking the type of each group; deciding whether each group is to be performed by any one of a coding for positive number and a coding of negative number depending on the type of each group; converting the value of each group into a corresponding value of different number system and finding a signed digit based on the converted value; if the type of each group indicates the coding for negative number, performing bitwise inverting on the value of each group; and converting multi-bit subjected to the bitwise inverting into a corresponding value of different number system, and finding a signed digit based on the converted value.

    • Provided are a content-based searching method and system for multimedia objects using a high-dimensional feature vector data based on a 2-level signature. The method for searching the high-dimensional data using a signature file includes calculating a first-level query signature and a second-level query signature by using the query feature vector, performing a first filtering operation to obtain a primary candidate cell group by searching a second-level signature file, and performing a secondary filtering operation to obtain a secondary candidate cell group having a high similarity in a primary candidate cell group. Accordingly, the high-dimensional data searching method and system can process a query quickly and accurately and can increase the searching accuracy by using an enhanced signature of the query feature vector.

    • Provided are a file storage system, and a method for managing duplicate files in the file storage system. The file storage system that performs file duplication for error recovery includes a client for requesting generation of a duplicate file of a new file being stored, a metadata server for storing information associated with prestored duplicate files and determining whether a file that is identical to the new file is present among the prestored duplicate files, to limit a number of identical duplicate files to a preset number, and a data server comprising a file duplication unit and a storage unit for respectively performing file duplication and file storage under the control of the metadata server. Accordingly, file recovery can be performed while duplicate files in the system are minimized.
