摘要： The present invention discloses vanadium-based insulin-mimetic agent composite coatings, application of these coatings onto implantable devices, and use of the implantable devices for accelerating osseous healing. The invention also encompasses methods of manufacturing implantable devices coated with vanadium-based insulin-mimetic agent composite coatings and the implantable devices so manufactured. The implantable devices have wide applications, including but not limited to treating bone fracture, bone trauma, arthrodesis, and other bone deficit conditions, as well as bone injuries incurred in military and sports activities.

摘要： An intramedullary nail has a proximal part for engagement with a proximal bone fragment and a distal part for engagement with a distal bone fragment. A motion assembly interconnects the parts and allows limited axial relative motion of the proximal and distal parts. This limited axial motion provides micromotion and in some embodiments also dynamization. The nail may comprise a stem for fastening to one bone fragment and an insert within the stem for fastening to the other bone fragment, the insert being adapted to guide insertion of a bone screw through the stem and to prevent relative rotation of the distal and proximal bone fragments. The motion assembly may include spring bias and/or damping means between the parts, possibly including one or more Belleville washers.

摘要： Method, device and kit for the detection of antibodies directed to Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). The method includes contacting the felid biological sample with FIV env polypeptide and detecting whether the polypeptide substantially binds to the antibody in the biological sample. The method will detect FIV antibodies in a sample from animals that have been naturally infected but the method will not detect antibodies in a sample from animals that have not been infected and that have not been vaccinated with an FIV vaccine after within about the previous five to eight weeks.

摘要： An improved implantable valve accumulator pump for the delivery of medication is disclosed. The implantable pump comprises a pressurized drug reservoir. The medication metering assembly comprises a fixed volume accumulator positioned between a pair of valves. The valves alternately open and close to admit medication from the reservoir into the accumulator and to dispense a precise volume pulse to an outlet catheter. In order to improve the pump's accuracy and to increase pumping volume while optimizing the pump's overall size and energy usage a two way diaphragm accumulator is used. The unit can be externally programmed or can be used in a fixed rate configuration that is never programmed but set at the factory or in the current programmable configuration.
