    • An integrated circuit is a baseboard management controller that is a fully integrated system-on-a-chip microprocessor incorporating function blocks and interfaces that provide remote management solution. The integrated circuit uses a microprocessor, a media co-processor to accelerate video processing, and a set of system and peripheral functions that are useful in a variety of remote management applications. It further includes an integrated USB high-speed device and an OTG interface to support keyboard, mouse and mass storage emulation without additional external components, and two integrated MII LAN interfaces and one FSB interface, a memory controller to support a variety of static and dynamic memory components, an encryption controller to ensure secure remote management sessions and IPMI2.0-compliant BMC interfaces. The integrated circuit is based on structured ASIC technology, which enables easy customization of function blocks according to customer demands or new industry standards.

The video compression accelerator generates hash map values for received image data, compares the hash map values to generate a difference map and encodes the image data corresponding to the difference map prior to the microprocessor sending the encoded video data to a client.

    • A system and method of associating the identification of a server with its physical location thorough the use of an asset management strip and asset management tags. The asset management strip is extendable by means of slave asset management strips. The asset tags are attached to data center components, such as servers, in racks. They are removably attached to the asset strip and provide identification information to the asset strip. The asset strip can correlate the identification information with the location where the tag attaches to the strip. The strip provides the rack identity to management software over a network, which includes an indication of a vertical location on the rack of the component and the component identification data.

    • Disclosed is a method and apparatus for transmitting video signals from a remote computer to a local computer over a network such as a LAN, WAN, the Internet, etc. The method receives and digitizes signals from the remote computer, conditions the signals, and compresses the signals for efficient transmission over the network connection. The method and apparatus also utilizes a cache of recently transmitted video to further decrease the data needed for transmission of the signals. The conditioning and caching use frame buffers of video signals that are divided into cells to reduce noise in the image, and to limit the portions of the video signals that must be transmitted. The present invention maybe used in conjunction with a keyboard video mouse switch to enable a user at the local computer to select one of a number of remote devices for remote operation.
