The recording layer (101) of the optical information recording medium (100) of the invention contains, as a two-photon absorbing material, a compound represented by general formula (1) having a hexadiyne structure that includes in the center thereof two acetylene groups connected by a δ-bond. At the time of information recording where a recording mark (RM) is formed in the recording layer (101), two-photon absorption occurs in response to a condensed, short-wavelength recording light, whereby the recording mark (RM) is formed.

When recording information on an optical disc 100, the optical disc apparatus controls the position of an objective lens OL1 according to the outcome of detection of a red reflected light beam Lr2 so as to make the focus Fr thereof follow a target track and it also makes the focus Fb1 of a blue light beam Lb1 agree with a target mark position by the objective lens OL1 and also the focus Fb2 agree with the target mark position by controlling the position of another objective lens OL2 according to the outcome of detection of the blue light beam Lb1 by way of the objective lenses OL1 and OL2 so as to make the focus Fb1 of the blue light beam Lb1 and the focus Fb2 of the blue light beam Lb2 agree with the target mark position and the blue light beam Lb1 and the blue light beam Lb2 interfere with each other. Thus, as a result, the optical disc apparatus can record a recording mark RM at the target mark position.

摘要： A rewritable optical information recording medium including a recording layer composed of an organic dye film is provided, in which recording and erasing information can be performed reversibly by laser light irradiation. A rewritable optical information recording medium including at least one organic dye film which is substantially made of only at least one kind of organic dye compounds as a recording film is provided. The recording and erasure of information are performed by a reversible physical change of the organic dye film substance caused by laser light irradiation. Specifically, data recording is performed by a physical change locally caused by the irradiation of recording laser light, data reproduction is performed by detecting change in intensity of returned light of reproducing laser light having less power than the recording laser light, and data erasure is performed by applying at least once continuous light or pulse light having laser power more than the reproducing laser light and less than the recording laser light. The physical change is a change in shape.

The liquid crystal orientation film may be composed of an orientation film having low polarization such as a SiOx oblique vapor-deposition film or may be composed of a stacked film in which a thin film having low polarization and capable of relaxing polarization at an interface with the liquid crystal or an organic complex having an electric conductivity of 1.2×10−8 S/cm or more is stacked on an orientation film.

C. is formed on the recording layer. The soluble high polymer may be a fluorine-based polymer, such as a tetrafluoroethylene-dioxole copolymer. The protective film has a film thickness in a range of from 0.25 .lambda./n to 0.5 .lambda./n, where .lambda. is a wavelength of a playback light and n is a refractive index of the protective film.
