摘要： A method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display element capable of easily improving response characteristics without using a large apparatus is provided. After alignment films 22 and 32 made of a polymer compound including a crosslinkable functional group as a side chain and a bulky skeleton such as an adamantane skeleton are formed in a TFT substrate 20 and a CF substrate 30, the alignment films 22 and 32 are arranged to face each other, and a liquid crystal layer 40 including liquid crystal molecules 41 is sealed between the alignment films 22 and 32, and then, in a state where the liquid crystal molecules 41 are aligned to allow long-axis directions thereof to be oblique with respect to a substrate surface, the polymer compound in the alignment films 22 and 32 is reacted to form a polymer compound including a cross-linked structure, and predetermined pretilts are provided to liquid crystal molecules 41A and 41B placed in proximity to the alignment films 22 and 32, respectively.

摘要： A liquid crystal display capable of realizing a high transmittance while maintaining favorable voltage response characteristics, and a method of manufacturing the same are provided. The liquid crystal display includes: a liquid crystal layer; a first substrate and a second substrate arranged to face each other with the liquid crystal layer in between; a plurality of pixel electrodes provided on a liquid crystal layer side of the first substrate; and an opposite electrode provided on the second substrate to face the plurality of pixel electrodes. One or both of a face on the liquid crystal layer side of the pixel electrode, and a face on the liquid crystal layer side of the opposite electrode includes a concavo-convex structure.

摘要： A substrate for a liquid crystal display device, including a pixel electrode formed on the substrate, wherein the pixel electrode includes a micro-cutout pattern defined by a plurality of micro-cutouts extending in four different directions with respect to an extension direction of a rough structural pattern. The substrate also includes a first electrode extending in a first direction, a second electrode extending in a second direction that is approximately perpendicular to the first direction, and a contact hole that electrically connects the pixel electrode and the first electrode. A portion of the rough structural pattern and/or a portion of the micro-cutout pattern overlap the first electrode. Also disclosed is a liquid crystal display device including such a substrate.

摘要： A liquid crystal display device including first and second substrates and a liquid crystal layer therebetween. The device also includes a plurality of gate bus lines, and a plurality of drain bus lines that intersect the gate bus lines, as well as a plurality of pixel regions defined by the gate and drain bus lines. Additionally, the device includes a thin film transistor and a resin color filter layer formed in each of the pixel regions. There is a pixel electrode formed in each of the pixel regions on the resin color filter layer that includes a slit extending in parallel with an edge of the pixel region and a plurality of finer slits diagonally extending from the slit. Finally, the device includes a common electrode formed on the second substrate, and a vertical alignment film applied to each of surfaces of the substrates.

摘要： In a liquid crystal display device, liquid crystal molecules are oriented in a vertical direction to the first substrate and the second substrate by the first molecule orientation film and the second molecule orientation film, respectively, in a non-driving state. A structural pattern is formed so as to extend in a first direction parallel to a surface of the liquid crystal layer and so as to form, in a driving state, an electric field periodically changing in a second direction that is parallel to the liquid crystal layer and vertical to the first direction. The liquid crystal molecules substantially tilt in the first direction in the driving state.
