The network element generates a stored transceiver signature using transceiver data stored in the removable transceiver and a nonce. If the stored transceiver signature and the hardware transceiver signature are equal, the network element uses the transceiver to communicate network data for the network element. 摘要： A method and apparatus of a network element that authenticates a field replaceable unit of the network element is described. The network element authenticates a field replaceable unit of the network element by generating a nonce. In addition, the network element generates a signature using a nonce and a private encryption key that is securely stored in the field replaceable unit. The network element further verifies the signature using a public encryption key that is a pair to the private encryption key and is not securely stored in the field replaceable unit. If the field replaceable unit is verified, the network element uses the field replaceable unit to operate the network element. Otherwise, the network element disables the field replaceable unit.

The network element authenticates a field replaceable unit of the network element by generating a nonce. 摘要： An index is built upon on one more columns of a database table. In order to retrieve values from the database table, a block-order scan is performed on the index by sequentially reading one or more units of contiguous blocks of the index. For a B-tree index, branch nodes in the blocks are ignored, but column values from within leaf nodes are retrieved. The column whose values are read can be determined from processing a query that references the column. The index can be partitioned so that the block-order index can be performed on only some of the index. Moreover, the block-order index scan is suitable for a table organized as an index.
