    • There are provided methods and arrangements for communication in which, even in a case where an antenna that is not correctly connected is present in a wireless module provided with a plurality of antennas, high-performance data communication can be performed without using such antennas. RSSI values are detected from a plurality of receiving circuits of a wireless module, respectively, and a computer judges whether or not there is a significant difference between a first RSSI value detected from one receiving circuit and a second RSSI value detected from another receiving circuit. In a case where it is judged that there is the significant difference, the computer recognizes that the receiving circuit from which a larger RSSI value has been detected is connected to an antenna and the receiving circuit from which a smaller RSSI value has been detected is not connected to the antenna, and the receiving circuit recognized to be unconnected to the antenna is set to operation stop.

    • An AC adaptor that can reduce power not in use state, and a battery-operated electronic apparatus that can employ such an AC adaptor. An AC adaptor includes, (a) an input line along which an external AC voltage is input, (b) a first transformer for transforming the input AC voltage into a DC voltage at a first voltage level, (c) a switch provided on the primary side of the first transformer, (d) an output line along which a DC voltage on the secondary side of the first transformer is output externally, (e) a second transformer for transforming the input AC voltage into a DC voltage at a second voltage level that is higher than the first voltage level and for outputting the resultant DC voltage to the output line, and (f) an AC adaptor operation control circuit for comparing a voltage level across the output line with a reference voltage level, which is higher than the first voltage level and which is lower than the second voltage level, and for turning on the switch when the voltage level across the output line is lower than the reference voltage level, or for turning off the switch when the voltage level across the output line exceeds the reference voltage level. When an electronic apparatus does not require supply of power, the AC adaptor is detached from the system load in the apparatus, so that the voltage across the output line of the AC adaptor exceeds the reference voltage. In response to the result of the comparison, the switch on the primary side of the first transformer is turned off, and thus the operation of the first transformer can be halted.

    • To provide a method whereby unauthorized data access by an RFID data processing system is prohibited without any degradation of performance being incurred. An RFID data processing system 30 comprises a CPU 35, a EEPROM 34, communication devices 31 and 32, and power controllers 40 and 41. When an RFID data processing system 30 in the power-ON state that does not have access authorization passes through a portal gate located at the entrance to an unauthorized data access protection area, the portal gate transmits a signal to set ON a tamper bit 44 in the EEPROM 34. When the tamper bit 44 has been set ON, a tamper bit interrupt request signal is output by the EEPROM 34. Upon receiving this signal, the power controllers 40 and 41 power off the RFID data processing system 30.
