    • A method for printing corrugated cardboard sheets is effected by transferring the corrugated cardboard sheets while jetting ink droplets from ink jet nozzles onto the corrugated cardboard sheets to form dots thereon. Said method comprises the steps of transferring the corrugated cardboard sheets one by one while at the same time sucking one flat surface of each of the corrugated cardboard sheets, and adjusting the relationship among the velocity at which the corrugated cardboard sheets are transferred, the suction force of the corrugated cardboard sheets, and the distance between the ink jet nozzle and the other corrugated surface of each of the corrugated cardboard sheets in accordance with the configuration of the said other corrugated surface and the desired DPI of dots to be formed on the said other corrugated surface. As a result, the ink droplets are jetted toward the said other corrugated surface to be printed thereon.

The ink jet heads have skirts located upstream and downstream of the transferring direction of the cardboard sheets in such a manner that the skirts extend from the ink jet heads toward the other surface and have a width which covers the ink jet nozzles so as to form a partition in a space between the ink jet nozzles and the other surface.

    • Disclosed is a belt speed controller in a single facer consisting of an upper fluted roll, a lower fluted roll, a gluing mechanism, and an application mechanism having an endless belt extended over a plurality of rolls so as to be able to run freely thereby; in which a liner is pressed against the glued crests of corrugation of a corrugating medium to be pasted therewith to form a single-faced corrugated board, characterized in that the speed controller consists of a braking apparatus for braking the roll, of the plurality of rolls over which the belt is extended, locating on the upstream side, with respect to the belt running direction, of the press contact zone where the belt is brought into press contact with the liner, and a control means which actuates the braking means to brake the endless belt via the roll. Since the endless belt is decelerated by the speed controller synchronously with or immediately before deceleration of the upper and lower fluted rolls, the belt can constantly be maintained slackless to achieve secured bonding between the corrugating medium and the liner.

    • A corrugating roller unit is moved smoothly between a first reference plane and a second reference plane at different heights by a roll-out apparatus having a set of moving support device. A first moving support device supports the corrugating roller unit when the corrugating roller unit is in contact with the first reference plane. A second moving support device supports the corrugating roller unit when the corrugating roller unit is in contact with the second reference plane. A positioning device keeps the second moving support device in contact with the second reference plane when the second moving support device is providing the support for the corrugating roller unit. When the second moving support device moves the second reference plane to the first reference plane, the positioning device prevents the second moving support device from restricting movement of the corrugating roller unit. The resulting corrugating roller unit is inexpensive and does not require floor construction work at a corrugated cardboard production plant.
