    • A system for handing off a mobile node includes a mobile node and a target foreign agent. To effectuate a handoff of the mobile node from an anchor foreign agent to the target foreign agent, a tunnel can be established therebetween such that data packet(s) sent between the mobile node and a correspondent node pass between the target foreign agent and the anchor foreign agent through the tunnel. After the tunnel is established, the mobile node can register with the target foreign agent to thereby bind the mobile node to the target foreign agent such that data packet(s) sent between the mobile node and the correspondent node pass through the target foreign agent to the correspondent node independent of the anchor foreign agent and the tunnel. Thereafter, the target foreign agent can close the tunnel between the target foreign agent and the anchor foreign agent.

    • Aspects of the present invention relate to compounds for preparing fluorocarbon compounds, methods for preparing fluorocarbon compounds, and methods for purifying a mixture of compounds. One aspect of the present invention relates to a trivalent iodonium fluorocarbon. The trivalent iodonium fluorocarbon compound of the invention is useful for attaching a fluorocarbon group to a compound that has a nucleophilic functional group. Another aspect of the present invention relates to a method of preparing a trivalent iodonium fluorocarbon. Another aspect of the present invention relates to a method of preparing a fluorocarbon by treating a compound bearing a nucleophilic functional group with a trivalent iodonium fluorocarbon compound. Another aspect of the present invention relates to a method or purifying a mixture comprising a first and a second compound by treating the mixture with a trivalent iodonium fluorocarbon to attach a fluorocarbon group to the second compound leaving the first compound unchanged, and purifying the mixture by fluorous-phase purification.

    • An apparatus includes a plurality of call controllers that are capable of establishing a plurality of communication sessions over a packet network using a plurality of signaling protocols. The apparatus also includes an application controller that is capable of supporting one or more supplementary services during each of the communication sessions. As particular examples, the application controller and at least one of the call controllers are capable of at least one of: placing at least one of the communication sessions on hold so a user may initiate another of the communication sessions, placing at least one of the communication sessions on hold so the user may accept another of the communication sessions, and establishing a conference using at least two of the communication sessions. The communication sessions may use a common signaling protocol or different signaling protocols.
