    • A motor operator unit for an electrical switch is pivotally mounted on a bracket to swing between a closed, operative position in which an actuator in the motor operator unit engages the switch handle for electrical operation of the switch handle and an open position in which the switch handle is freely accessible for direct manual operation. The compliant actuator which is translated by a motor driven threaded shaft overtravels at each end of its reciprocal path after actuation of the switch handle to toggle a single power switch which determines both direction and shutoff of motor operation. A lockout plate mechanically prevents electrical and manual operation of the switch handle and carries an interlock switch which only enables motor operation when the motor operator unit is in the operative position and not locked out. The actuator is configured to prevent full rotation of the motor operator to the operative position, if the position of the actuator, which is virtually identified by indicators, does not correspond to handle position.

    • A laminated contact assembly formed from a plurality of contact arm subassemblies includes a contact arm portion, for carrying a movable main or arcing contact, and a stationary conductor portion. A flexible shunt, form wound from a flat electrical conductor, is used to connect the contact arm portion to the stationary conductor portion. The flexible shunt is formed into a V-shape defining two depending legs. The free ends of the shunt defining bulb portions are inserted into keyholes formed in the contact arm portion and the stationary conductor portion. A pin is inserted into a central portion of the bulb portion to exert radially outward forces against the interior surface of the keyhole to increase the contact force between the bulb portions and the keyholes to form joints having a lower electrical resistance. The pin may be inserted into the central portion of the bulb portion by orbital riveting.

    • A molded case circuit breaker is taught with a housing base and a primary cover disposed on the housing base. The primary cover has a recess therein for an auxiliary module which is disposed in the recess. A secondary cover is disposed on the primary cover for covering the recess when the auxiliary module is disposed therein. A combination manual trip and secondary cover interlock is provided which is accessible from outside of the secondary cover for manually opening separable main contacts or for automatically opening separable main contacts when the secondary cover is removed. There is also provided on the back plane of the housing a single piece DIN rail attachment for securing the back plane to a DIN rail. There is provided an under voltage release mechanism for actuating the circuit breaker to trip on the occurrence of an under voltage condition of predetermined magnitude across the lines served by the circuit interrupter. The under voltage release mechanism has an adjustment spring which is controlled by a nut or thumb screw on a shaft to vary the spring force for calibrating the under voltage release mechanism. There is also provided a self-retaining collar member for the load and line terminals of the circuit interrupter. The collar member comprises a locating protrusion in the bottom thereof which aligns with a hole in the load or line conductors. Side entrapment members which entrap the line or load conductor therebetween and between the bottom of the collar member are also provided.

    • An operating mechanism for an enclosure-mounted circuit breaker includes a slider for engaging the circuit breaker handle; a shaft-driven pivot for moving the slider between the handle on, off and reset positions; a holder for holding the slider in its reset position; a base plate for supporting the pivot and the slider; and a door-mounted rotary handle for rotating the shaft and operating the pivot. The rotary handle may engage the shaft in the on and off positions, and may be detached from the shaft in the reset position. The pivot may include a first pivot arm having a first cam surface for holding the slider in its reset position. A second cam surface on a second pivot arm may engage a first slider surface from off to on; a second slider surface from on to off, from off toward reset, and to resist reset to off; and an oblique slider surface when adjacent reset. The second cam surface may disengage the oblique surface at reset. Alternatively, the slider may include a notch and the base plate may include a latch for engaging the notch. The pivot may include a single pivot arm having a cam surface which engages a slider surface from off to on; an oblique slider surface from on to off, and from off to reset in order to engage the notch and the latch; and another oblique surface to disengage the notch and the latch from reset to off. The slider may include an oblique shoulder for moving the handle from on to off and from off to reset, for resisting the handle force from reset to off, and for using the handle force to engage the notch and the latch in the reset position in order to substantially decouple the handle force from the rotary handle.

    • A locking attachment is for a circuit breaker. The circuit breaker includes a housing enclosing separable contacts and an operating mechanism, an elongated operating member with a handle that operates to open and close the separable contacts, and an opening in the housing through which the elongated operating member protrudes. The opening has first and second ends corresponding to “on” and “off” circuit breaker positions, respectively. The locking attachment includes a locking member having a first end having a compressive segment with opposed portions for compressively capturing the operating member. The second end of the locking member is structured to engage the housing of the circuit breaker at one of the first and second ends of the opening in the housing, thereby locking the circuit breaker in either the “on” or “off” position.
