    • A motor operator for a circuit breaker has a motor driven carriage which engages a circuit breaker handle and drives it between an on position and a reset position beyond off. When the carriage drives the handle to the off/reset position, an off limit switch is actuated to deenergize the motor. A fastener releasably secures a bracket slidably mounted on the carriage to a fixed member when the carriage reaches the reset position of the handle so that if the circuit breaker does not reset and rebounds toward a trip position, the bracket is extended and maintains actuation of the off limit switch. Hence, the motor is not repeatedly energized and burned out in unsuccessful attempts to reset the circuit breaker.

    • A group operated circuit disconnect apparatus for overhead electric power lines has a base in the form of a box-like housing which mounts on a pole, an upright shaft extends through the housing, and a transverse shaft also extends through the housing. A linkage is mounted on the shafts in the housing so that axial rotation of the transverse shaft axially rotates the upright shaft, and this causes three circuit disconnect switches mounted on the housing to be moved simultaneously between closed positions and open positions, or vice versa. An electric motor driven screw and nut drive subassembly for the transverse shaft is mounted in the housing; and the ends of the housing have removable closure plates for access to the linkage and for removal of the subassembly.

    • An electro-mechanical actuator having means for transmitting motion, in the final part of a stroke performed by a system comprising a worm shaft and rider nut coupled through gearing with an electric motor, to an auxiliary interrupter for breaking the power supply to the motor. Two control levers are provided, these being coupled together, and being rotated, about a perpendicular axis, by a cursor which is fixed to the nut that slides on the worm shaft. The pivoting of the said levers is blocked during the movement of the drive shaft driven by the system consisting of the worm shaft and nut. By contrast, the levers pivot during the final part of the movement of the cursor. The distance through which the levers move in pivoting is large enough to avoid any need for the auxiliary interrupter to be a high precision component.

    • A motor operator for an electric power switch having a handle moveable along a rectilinear path includes a threaded shaft mounted for rotation parallel to movement of the handle. A molded flexible coupling has a drive section with a threaded through bore engaging the threaded shaft and a yoke section having a hole engaged by the handle. The yoke section is joined to the drive section by an integral flexible intermediate section formed by a pair of slits extending generally parallel to the through bore. As the threaded shaft is rotated by a motor, the drive coupling, and with it the handle, are driven between OFF and ON positions. During startup of the motor, toggling of the handle by a toggle mechanism in the switch, and deceleration at the end of travel, when the drive section of the drive coupling and the yoke section travel at different speeds, one or the other of the slits closes as the intermediate section bends to dampen the effect.
