    • An optical pickup apparatus comprises a laser beam source to generate laser beam, and a laser driving circuit to drive the laser beam source. The laser driving circuit is connected to a flexible substrate and arranged in a groove or hole provided in the vicinity of that portion of an optical pickup housing, to which the laser beam source is fixed. The laser driving circuit is connected through a heat conduction member to an upper cover among upper and lower covers, the upper cover being close to the laser driving circuit. Thereby, heat generated from the laser driving circuit is conducted through the heat conduction member to the upper cover to be transferred outside the optical pickup apparatus while being scattered in an inplane direction of the upper cover.

    • An objective-lens driving apparatus, includes an objective lens for converging light on a recording surface of an optical disk, a focusing coil having four edges for enclosing the objective lens, and two pairs of permanent magnets. The two pairs of permanent magnets are arranged so that polarities thereof are identical toward the focusing coil, with one pair of the permanent magnets arranged so as to be opposed to one edge of the focusing coil, and another pair of the permanent magnets arranged so as to be opposed to another edge of the focusing coil which is opposite to the one edge of focusing coil. An interval between two permanent magnets constituting the one pair of the permanent magnets is narrower than an interval between two permanent magnets constituting the another pair of the permanent magnets.

    • An optical disk apparatus includes an objective-lens for converging light on a recording surface of an optical disk, and an objective-lens driving device for driving the objective-lens in a focusing direction and a tracking direction. The objective-lens driving device includes a focusing coil having four edges to enclose the objective-lens, and two pairs of permanent magnets. The two pairs of permanent magnets are arranged so that polarities thereof become identical to sides of focusing coil, wherein one pair of the permanent magnets is arranged opposed to an edge of the focusing coil, and an other pair of the permanent magnets is arranged opposed to an edge opposite to the edge of the focusing coil. An interval between two magnets constituting the one pair of permanent magnets is narrower than an interval between two magnets constituting the other pair of permanent magnets.

    • In an optical pickup device, heat conduction from a semiconductor laser to a pickup case is to be increased, thereby to prevent the semiconductor laser from deteriorating in performance, being reduced in durability and in committing erroneous actions, and to improve its reliability. An optical pickup device comprises a semiconductor laser for recording or playing back information onto or from an optical disk, a laser drive circuit to control the driving of the semiconductor laser, a pickup case for mounting the semiconductor laser and the laser drive circuit, and a signal transmitting flexible substrate for transmitting signals and the like to the semiconductor laser. To this optical pickup device is added a heat conducting flexible member for thermally connecting the semiconductor laser and the pickup case.
