    • The invention provides an image forming liquid cartridge including a container having an opening portion from which an image forming liquid is fed or discharged; a cap portion connected to the opening portion; and an image forming liquid contained in the container, the image forming liquid including a colorant, urea and water, and having a pH of 7.5 or more, wherein the cap portion includes a sealing portion that seals the opening portion, a contact portion provided at the center of the sealing portion, and at least one first breakage portion that extends from the contact portion to an outer periphery of the sealing portion, and has a thickness of from 0.1 mm to 0.5 mm, the thickness of the at least one first breakage portion being smaller than a thickness of the sealing portion.

    • A liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes: first and second substrates; a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second substrates; a plurality of pillar-like spacers for defining a gap between the first and second substrates; a plurality of electrodes provided on a side of each of the first and second substrates which faces the liquid crystal layer, for applying a voltage through the liquid crystal layer; and a plurality of pixel regions defined by the plurality of electrodes. The liquid crystal layer has liquid crystal molecules having a negative dielectric anisotropy. A vertical alignment layer is provided on a surface of each of the first and second substrates which faces the liquid crystal layer and on surfaces of the pillar-like spacers. The liquid crystal layer includes a plurality of liquid crystal regions defined by the plurality of pillar-like spacers. Each of the pixel regions includes at least one of the liquid crystal regions. The liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal regions are aligned substantially perpendicular to the surfaces of the first and second substrates in an absence of an applied voltage and in axial symmetry in a presence of an applied voltage.

    • The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device including a pair of electrode substrates and a display medium sandwiched between the electrode substrates and including a polymeric wall and liquid crystal regions at least partly surrounded by the polymeric wall. In this liquid crystal display device, the polymeric wall is tightly attached to both the electrode substrates. Furthermore, the invention also provides a method for producing a liquid crystal display device including a pair of electrode substrates, at least one of which is transparent, and a display medium including a polymeric wall and liquid crystal regions at least partly surrounded by the polymeric wall and sandwiched between the electrode substrates. This method includes the steps of injecting a mixture including liquid crystal and a photopolymerizable material between the electrode substrates; and irradiating the mixture with light having light intensity distribution so as to cause phase-separation between the liquid crystal and the photopolymerizable material, thereby forming the liquid crystal regions in weakly irradiated areas.
