    • The invention provides a method and a network node for controlling configuration of measurements to be performed by a user equipment (150a, 150b) operating in a wireless communication system (101). A configured measurement corresponds to at least one reporting criteria and the user equipment (150a, 150b) is able to support a limited number of parallel reporting criteria. Measurements to be performed by the user equipment in parallel may be requested by different network nodes such as a positioning server (140) and an eNodeB (110a, 110b). By letting a network node, such as the positioning server (140) or the (eNodeB 110a, 110b), obtain information on measurements requested by another network node the network node is able to configure the user equipment with a set of measurements that does not exceed at least one predetermined threshold for parallel reporting criteria

A radio network node (81) receives an indication (85) from the user equipment (91) that the user equipment (91) is going to perform an inter-frequency measurement for positioning, which inter-frequency measurement requires measurement gaps. The radio network node (81) may determine a measurement gap pattern for performing the inter-frequency measurement and may signal, to the user equipment (91), information (86) to initiate use of the determined measurement gap pattern in the user equipment (91). Alternatively the user equipment (91) configures the measurement gap pattern itself based on a set of pre-defined rules.

    • A wireless terminal (30) capable of operating in a discontinuous mode comprising and method for operating such wireless terminal (30) facilitate measurements pertaining to position of the wireless terminal (30). The method includes receiving a message from the radio access network (28). The measurement request message is configured to indicate that measurements are to be performed by the wireless terminal on downlink signals transmitted by the base station or by the base station on downlink signals transmitted by the base station. The method further comprises, as a result of or after receiving the message, changing operation of the wireless terminal (30) from a discontinuous mode to a modified mode to facilitate performance of the measurements. Relative to the discontinuous mode at least one of following are shortened or eliminated in the modified mode: (i) the non-reception periods, and (ii) the non-transmission periods. “Changing from a discontinuous mode . . . to a modified mode” includes one or more of: (1) changing mode of the wireless terminal (e.g., changing from a discontinuous mode [such as discontinuous reception (DRX) or discontinuous transmission (DTX)] to a continuous transmission mode); (2) changing from the discontinuous mode (a first discontinuous mode) to a modified discontinuous mode (a second discontinuous mode).
