    • A digital demodulating apparatus is provided. A tuning unit performs a tuning process on a received signal and the intensity of the received signal it changed by an intensity changing unit including a variable-gain circuit. A demodulator performs a demodulating process on the signal, whose intensity has been changed by the intensity changing unit, and a power changing unit changes the magnitude of power supplied to the circuit components. When the intensity changing unit changes the intensity of the received signal, a gain changing unit changes a gain of the variable-gain circuit by a predetermined amount substantially at the same time as the power changing unit changes the power supplied to the circuit components. The predetermined amount is arranged so that an overall gain of the circuit components remains unchanged before and after the power and gain are changed by the power changing unit and the gain changing unit.

    • A digital demodulating apparatus comprises circuit elements constituting a tuner that performs channel select processing to an interleaved received signal, and a demodulator that demodulates the received signal; a deinterleaving section that deinterleaves the interleaved received signal; an error correcting section that corrects errors in the received signal deinterleaved by the deinterleaving section; and a circuit element controlling section that controls an operation of at least one of the circuit elements. The circuit element controlling section estimates the quantity of hypothetical errors in the received signal caused by a control of a circuit element. The circuit element controlling section judges from the estimated quantity of hypothetical errors whether the error correcting section can correct errors in the received signal caused by the control of the circuit element. The circuit element controlling section controls the circuit element so as to decrease the quantity of errors in the received signal caused by the control of the circuit element, when the circuit element controlling section decided that the error correcting section can not correct the errors in the received signal.

    • A digital demodulating apparatus includes a tuner that selectively receives one of frequency bands, and a demodulator that demodulates a signal from the tuner. The apparatus further includes a measuring unit that measures on each carrier wave the intensity of noise to be contained in the signal from the tuner due to an interfering wave contained in the signal received by the tuner; a distribution estimating unit that estimates the distribution of interfering waves in at least one of the received frequency band and a frequency band neighboring the received frequency band, based on the distribution of noises in the frequency band measured on each carrier wave; a noise change deriving unit that derives a change in the intensity of noise to be contained in the signal from the tuner, to the power to be supplied to a circuit element; and a power updating unit that updates the value of the power to be supplied to the circuit element within a range in which the intensity of noise to be contained in the signal from the tuner is less than a noise reference value, based on the derived change in the intensity of noise to the power to supply.
