摘要： A method includes determining first and second communication paths from a leaf node of a plurality of leaf nodes to first and second gateway nodes, respectively, of a plurality of gateway nodes. The first and second communication paths may include first and second intermediate nodes, respectively, of a plurality of intermediate nodes. A wireless message is sent from the leaf node to the first and second gateway nodes via the first and second communication paths, respectively. Information in the wireless message is communicated from at least one of the first and second gateway nodes to a component of a process control system.

摘要： A system for integrating a wireless network with wired field devices includes a field unit that communicates with the wired field devices using a first wired field device protocol. A gateway wirelessly communicates with the field unit and communicates over a network using one or more second wired field device protocols. The gateway also converts between the first wired field device protocol and the one or more second wired field device protocols. The gateway could further permit access to the wired field devices by a component of the process control system (such as a process controller, asset management tool, or configuration tool) that does not support the first wired field device protocol. At least one of the field unit and the gateway could appear as a multiplexer or linking device to the component of the process control system, such as a HART multiplexer or a Foundation Fieldbus or Profibus linking device.

摘要： The present invention provides systems and methods for controlling associated processes in a process facility and, in particular, for distributing data among nodes of a real time process control system that controls the process facility. An exemplary real time process control system includes a plurality of sensors, controllable devices, and communication paths, as well as a computer system. The sensors and controllable devices are associated with various ones of the processes of the process facility, and the communication paths associate the sensors and controllable devices with the computer system. The computer system operates on data relating to the process facility, and distributes the data among the nodes thereof. The nodes are associated with one another by ones of the communication paths also. The computer system includes subscriber nodes that desire data associated with certain of the processes and a publisher node. The publisher node monitors subscription lists associated with the subscriber nodes and, in response thereto, selectively communicates instances of the data to the subscriber nodes using ones of the communication paths. The communication paths have data traffic capacities and the computer system controls data distribution using the publisher node to efficiently utilize such data traffic capacities.

摘要： Data bases of a first and second input output processor (IOP), which are primary and secondary slave IOPs, respectively, are synchronized, and communications by a master controller is made only to the first IOP. Each IOP is executing the same tasks utilizing their own clocking systems. A method for periodically verifying that the first and second data base remain synchronized comprises the steps of sending a sync-verify type message to the first IOP. The second IOP eavesdrops on the communications, and when the second IOP recognizes that the message is addressed to the corresponding primary slave IOP, accepts the message. Upon detecting the message is of the sync-verify type by each IOP, operations by each IOP are suspended. A number is generated by each IOP of its own data base, the number being indicative of the contents of the information stored in the data base. A status request type message is issued by the master controller to the first IOP for the number generated by the first IOP, and a status request type message is issued by the master controller to the second IOP for the number generated by the second IOP. Upon receipt of the numbers by the master controller, the value of the number generated by the first IOP is compared to the value of the number generated by the second IOP, thereby determining that the information stored in the first and second data bases are the same when the numbers compare.

摘要： A controller of a control system, which operates as a master, has a slave input/output processor (IOP) connected thereto which communicates with at least one device of a predetermined type, and a backup slave IOP connected thereto of the same type as the slave IOP, the slave IOP operating as a primary IOP to the device. A method for providing backup to the slave IOP by the backup slave IOP comprises the steps of loading the backup slave IOP with the same data base as the slave IOP. The backup slave IOP eavesdrops on all communications from the controller to the slave IOP. When a write command is communicated to the slave IOP, the backup slave IOP taps the data from the bus and updates its data base. If the command is not a write command, ignores the communication. When a fault is detected by either the slave IOP or the backup slave IOP, the detection of the fault is communicated to the other IOP. The IOPs then failover such that the backup IOP is operatively connected to the device and the slave IOP is disconnected from the device. Finally, the controller acknowledges that the backup slave IOP is now operating as the primary source to the device.

摘要： A primary slave IOP, upon detecting an error, verifies the availability of a secondary slave IOP, and then sets an output control signal to indicate backup is requested. The primary slave IOP then takes itself out of being the primary. A secondary slave IOP, sensing that the output control signal from the other IOP has been set, assumes the roll of the primary slave IOP. A master controller, detecting an error with the primary slave IOP, interrogates the primary and secondary slave IOPs for a status input, and then arbitrates between the first and second IOP to determine the IOP that is to take on the primary role. Finally the master controller awards the more operational IOP the role of the primary slave IOP, thereby completing the failover operation.

At the completion of performing the control functions, the predetermined information which was collected is transferred to the secondary controller.
