    • The objective is to provide a stereoscopic display device that is capable of preventing a malfunction of the touch panel while maintaining 3D capability. The device includes: a display panel (12); a switch liquid crystal panel (14); a touch panel (20); a driving circuit (16); and an RC circuit (18). The switch liquid crystal panel (14) is located on the front side of the display panel (12) and is capable of forming a parallax barrier (38). The touch panel (20) is located on the front side of the switch liquid crystal panel (14). The driving circuit (16) drives the switch liquid crystal panel (14) to form the parallax barrier (38). The RC circuit (18) is located between the switch liquid crystal panel (14) and the driving circuit (16). The driving circuit (16) drives the switch liquid crystal panel (14) using a voltage with an effective value of 3 volts or more.

    • Obtained is a configuration of a stereoscopic display device wherein luminance variation and increase of crosstalk can be reduced over a period before and after the switching of the parallax barrier. The stereoscopic display device includes: a display panel for displaying an image with a plurality of pixels; a switch liquid crystal panel that is arranged so as to be stacked on the display panel; a position sensor for acquiring position information of a viewer; and a control unit for moving a parallax barrier in which transmitting regions and non-transmitting regions are formed in periodic fashion in a predetermined alignment direction, in such a manner that the parallax barrier is moved in the predetermined alignment direction in accordance with the position information, with use of a predetermined barrier switching pitch as a minimum unit, and causing the switch liquid crystal panel to display the parallax barrier. The plurality of pixels have openings each of which has a width A in the alignment direction, the width A satisfying the expressions of A≤Wsl−2Pe, and A≤Wbr−2Pe where Wsl is a width of the transmitting region, Wbr is a width of the non-transmitting region BR, and Pe is the barrier switching pitch.

    • Provided is a stereoscopic display device capable of achieving good stereoscopic images with a low level of crosstalk in a wide area. A stereoscopic display device includes: a display panel; a switching liquid crystal panel arranged to overlap the display panel; a control section that controls the display panel and the switching liquid crystal panel; and a position sensor that obtains position information about a viewer and supplies the same to the control section. The display panel includes first pixel lines and second pixel lines that are arranged alternately in a vertical direction. The control section switches between a plurality of display modes including a tracking three-dimensional display mode. In the tracking three-dimensional display mode, the control section causes either the first pixel lines or the second pixel lines to display pixel data constituting an image for the right eye and pixel data constituting an image for the left eye alternately in a horizontal direction, in accordance with the position information.

The reflective polarizer passes those components of light entering the reflective polarizer that are parallel to the transmission axis (L6) while reflecting those components that are perpendicular to the transmission axis. At least one of the substrates (32, 34) includes a transparent region (58) capable of passing light from the display panel.

    • Disclosed is a stereoscopic display device that can reduce moiré that occurs due to light-shielding areas in the aperture of pixels. The stereoscopic display device includes a display panel and a parallax barrier. The display panel has a plurality of pixels and displays a stereoscopic image. In the parallax barrier, the direction in which transmissive and non-transmissive parts are alternately arranged is the first direction and the lengthwise direction of the non-transmissive parts is the second direction. There is a boundary that extends in the second direction between two pixels next to each other in the first direction. There are light-shielding areas in the aperture of each pixel. There is a space between the boundary and the light-shielding areas. Of two pixels next to each other in the second direction, the light-shielding areas in the aperture of one pixel are shifted in the first direction with respect to the light-shielding areas in the aperture of the other pixel.

    • Provided is a stereoscopic display device via which a good stereoscopic image can be obtained with little crosstalk across a wide zone. A stereoscopic display device is provided with: a display panel that displays an image; a lens sheet, which is arranged in a superimposed manner on the display panel, and which separates an image displayed on the display panel into a right-eye image and a left-eye image in the horizontal direction; a control unit that controls the display panel; and a position sensor that acquires position information with respect to an observer and supplies the same to the control unit. The display panel includes first pixel rows and second pixel rows arranged alternately in a vertical direction. The control unit, according to the position information, causes either the first pixel rows or the second pixel rows to alternately display pixel data constituting the right-eye image and pixel data constituting the left-eye image in the horizontal direction.
