    • Systems and methods that use Diameter protocol for notification of overload handling. A system includes a Diameter node that uses Diameter protocol. When in operation, the node receives a Diameter application request from a Diameter peer. In response to the application request, the node generates a Diameter application answer. The node also detects an overload condition, and inserts an overload indicator in the application answer that an overload condition exists. The application answer may include a new Attribute Value Pair (AVP) defined in the Diameter protocol for the overload indicator. With the overload indicator inserted in the application answer, the node transmits the application answer to the Diameter peer.

    • Systems and methods are disclosed for implementing a split numbering plan area code in an IMS network. The IMS network comprises a subscriber server adapted to store a new phone number including a new area code for a subscriber assigned as a result of the split numbering plan area code. The IMS network further comprises a call control system coupled to the subscriber server adapted to register user equipment of the subscriber assigned the new phone number with the subscriber server. The call control system is further adapted to associate an old phone number of the subscriber used prior to the split numbering plan area code with the new phone number in an implicit registration set. The call control system is further adapted to receive a call for the old phone number and identify the new phone number associated with the old phone number in the implicit registration set and to deliver the call to the user equipment.

    • Systems and methods are disclosed for generating machine readable codes by a navigation system that indicates information for a point of interest on a map. In one embodiment, a system includes a controller, a GPS receiver, and a user interface. The GPS receiver identifies location data. The user interface displays a map based on the location data, displays a plurality of points of interest on the map, and receives a selection of one of the plurality of points of interest from a user. The controller identifies information for a selected point of interest, generates a machine readable code that indicates the information for the selection, and provides the machine readable code to the user interface for capture by a mobile device.

    • Flight check-in systems and associated methods are disclosed. A passenger is able to check in with an airline by initiating a call to a phone number designated for flight check-in. A flight check-in system receives the call initiated by the passenger and identifies a number (e.g., a phone number) based on the call. Based on the number, the flight check-in system identifies a flight reservation associated with the passenger. Subsequently, the flight check-in system generates a virtual boarding pass based on the flight reservation, and sends the virtual boarding pass to a gate at an airport for the passenger to board a flight.
