A bottom of the major surface of the display device can be selectively placed in a first position in which the bottom extends substantially along a first side of the major surface of the main unit, and a second position in which the bottom extends substantially along a second side of the major surface of the main unit that is substantially perpendicular to the first side. The information processing apparatus (100) further comprises power supply and information communications connectors in the main unit on a third side of the major surface of the main unit that is opposite and substantially parallel to the second side. The connector is connectable through another connector on a car docking station.

摘要： A communication control method of this invention includes: when a call-in request to a chat for another participant in a voice-based teleconference by a first participant of the voice-based teleconference is received, transmitting the call-in request to the chat to a terminal of another participant; and when a participation response to the chat by another participant is received, carrying out a presence management setting so as to enable the first participant and a participant replying the participation response to update and subscribe dialogue contents of the chat, which are managed as presence data delivered to subscribers when updated. Thus, by using the presence technique, it becomes possible that the conference is shifted from the voice-based teleconference to the character-based teleconference and both of the conferences coexist.

摘要： A backlight device for a transmissive liquid crystal display device includes a plurality of light sources, including a cold cathode fluorescent lamp and an LED, a liquid crystal panel, and a light guide plate. The light guide plate causes light entering into it through one surface thereof to emerge out of another surface thereof toward the liquid crystal panel. A controller for the backlight device selects at least one of the cold cathode fluorescent lamp and LED, depending on brightness required for the liquid crystal display device and determines, in accordance with the required brightness, the brightness of the selected light source to operate the light source accordingly.
