A serial communication hub includes an upstream port, a plurality of downstream ports, and a port controller. The port controller is configured to: arrange each of a first of the downstream ports and a second of the downstream ports to individually operate as a first type of serial communication interface; and to arrange the first of the downstream ports and the second of the downstream ports to operate in combination as a second type of serial communication interface.

Two isolating eUSB2 repeaters are utilized to implement a digital isolation barrier between the two USB2 devices. The isolating eUSB2 repeaters are configured to broker isolated communications between the two USB2 devices using a modified eUSB2 protocol that allows the two isolating eUSB2 repeaters to interoperate across the isolating barrier. The modified eUSB2 protocol allows the two isolating eUSB2 repeaters to broker isolating communications on behalf of the USB2 devices without the use of an accurate clock signal. The modified eUSB2 protocol utilized by the isolating eUSB2 repeaters is configured in particular to support certain end-of-packet translations between USB2 data and the modified eUSB2 protocol, management of certain USB2 bus state transitions and assignment of roles to the two isolating eUSB2 repeaters.

摘要： Data communication devices, e.g., eUSB2 repeaters, include a partial bit filter to filter out a partial bit so it is not transmitted. The partial bit filter includes state-detection-and-hold circuitry having first and second differential signal inputs, a first output and a second output; logic circuitry having a first input coupled to the first output of the state-detection-and hold circuitry, and a second input coupled to the second output of the state-detection-and hold circuitry; and filter circuitry coupled to the logic circuitry and having a control output. The filter circuitry may be implemented as a latch or a network of flip flops. The output control signal of the partial bit filter may be applied to a transmitter in an eUSB2 repeater or to a pass-gate at the output of the transmitter.
