    • Disclosed is a suspension assembly for a disk drive that includes: a mounting plate having a through-hole extending from a top-side of the mounting plate to a bottom-side of the mounting plate; a microactuator mounting structure formed in the mounting plate; a microactuator mounted in the microactuator mounting structure; and a flexure attached to the bottom-side of the of mounting plate. The flexure includes: a metal layer; an insulator layer; a trace layer that includes a ground trace; and an opening, wherein the opening extends through the metal layer and the insulator layer to a gold-plated ground trace. A conductive epoxy is bonded to the microactuator and extends through the through-hole to bond to the flexure, wherein the epoxy extends through the opening of the flexure to the gold-plated ground trace of the flexure such that the microactuator is grounded to the flexure.

    • Suspension assemblies for minimizing stress on slider solder joints in a disk drive are described. One such suspension assembly includes a flexure including a gimbal area having a leading end and a trailing end, a metal support layer including a flexure tongue, a flexure tip disposed at the trailing end and including first and second isolation arms extending from the flexure tongue, and a bond pad support including a support arm extending from the flexure tongue, and a load beam including an elongated flat surface having a protrusion extending therefrom and having a cut-out section, where the leading end of the flexure gimbal area is attached along the flat surface, where the flexure is configured to retain contact with the protrusion, and where the cut-out section is configured to receive a portion of the bond pad support when the flexure rotates about a long axis of the suspension assembly.

    • A disk drive is disclosed comprising a disk surface comprising a plurality of tracks, each track comprising a plurality of servo sectors. The disk drive further comprises a head coupled to a distal end of an actuator arm, and a voice coil motor (VCM) and a microactuator operable to actuate the head over the disk surface. The head is first servoed in response to the servo sectors, and after first servoing the head, a manufacturing procedure is executed by controlling the VCM and the microactuator to servo the head while accessing the disk surface. After executing the manufacturing procedure, the head is second servoed in response to the servo sectors, and the microactuator is evaluated in response to the first and second servoing.
