摘要： A flexible cellular material is thermoregulated by compressing and expanding gas trapped in its cells A flexible elastomer material of a device that provide thermoregulation includes two layers of different shore hardness and conductivity and is has gas-filled cells. Each cell has a zone to store the gas when compressing the material in the layer C with higher hardness and thermal conductivity and another zone to expand the gas when decompressing the material in the layer D with lower hardness and thermal conductivity. The flexible material can be used as a sole in shoes to maintain a cool temperature. With each step, the cell zones located in the layer C act as adiabatic chambers whose gasses heat with compression. When the foot leaves the ground the zones of cells located in the layer D then act as a reactor nozzle that will expand the air and therefore cool it.

In one aspect, an article of footwear encompasses an upper; a sole, at least one vibration device disposed within the upper, the vibration device comprising at least one vibrational element capable of delivering vibrations to a user of the footwear; a controller communicatively connected to the vibration device and configured to control operation of the one or more vibration devices based on instructions regarding operation of the vibration device; and a control unit communicatively connected to the controller and configured to transmit instructions regarding the operation of the vibration device to the controller. Also disclosed herein are methods for reducing pain and discomfort using the disclosed footwear, devices and systems.

摘要： A personal cooling device that provides cooling to a user, e.g., a wearer's feet, assuring even temperature distribution across contoured surfaces irrespective of the orientation of the personal cooling device and regardless of the pull of gravity. The personal cooling device includes a flexible non-porous upper component, a flexible non-porous lower component, a porous absorbent carrier component, at least one dry chemical reactant and at least one containment including at least one liquid reactant. The carrier component includes at least one dry chemical reactant distributed on the surface area thereof. When the at least one dry chemical reactant is combined with the at least one liquid chemical reactant and is absorbed by the carrier component, an endothermic reaction is produced. The carrier component absorbs the resulting cool substance evenly distributed thereover and, thereby assures equal distribution of this actual cooling throughout the entire device. The at least one containment is adapted to rupture under applied pressure. The upper and lower components are inseparably sealed to each other at their respective perimeters, the attachment forming a volume adapted to encapsulate the carrier component, the at least one dry chemical reactant and the at least one containment.
